Can I buy a new Samsung Galaxy S lll or S ll and Have it activated with Straight Talk?
Q. I wanna know if I can buy a new S ll or S lll and have it activated with straight talk. I heard people were doing this but with other phones or they're current phones they had with other companies. I know Straight Talk has a program called B.Y.O.P (Bring your own Phone). I just wanna know if I can buy a new phone and have it flashed over to straight talk or if the S ll and S lll are even able to. If someone can help me with this I will be very thankful!
A. No you can NOT use them with straight talk. They can be unlocked for GSM sim cards only. that mean any thing that takes a sim, like simple mobile, T-Mobile, cricket, and many more.
I've work in a phone store and many people ask me the same question.
Although they used to give me their obama free service phone and ask me if they can use a different phone and still have the free mins, I told them that if they can afford a phone, they can afford paying as low as $16month for Unlimited talk/text.
What do I need to have done to a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 to use it on T-mobile?
Q. Do I just need to have it unlocked or something else too? I want it to be fully functional. Also, about how much would it cost to have whatever it needs done somewhere?
From what I read, it is only illegal to unlock phones that were purchased or acquired AFTER Jan something, and this phone wasn't. But now that I know they are on different frequencies altogether, that doesn't matter. Thanks
A. The Verizon version of the S3 has completely different cell phone "radios" than the T-Mobile one. Meaning it pulls down X-signal, while the T-Mobile one pulls down Y-signal. There are different frequencies for each carrier. If you had an AT&T model than yes you could unlock it and use it on T-Mobile. Now since the US government has made it illegal for the user to unlock THEIR phone, you now have to get permission from your provider to do so. If i were you I'd do some Google-ing around to find hat you're looking for. But my immediate first answer is no. Sorry man.
