Q. Is it gorilla glass or something else? and do i need a screen protector?
A. According to wikipedia, its a multi touch gorilla glass display which is 30 times stronger than the ordinary plastic screen. This means that you wont be able to get any kind of scratches easily.

Should I get a Kindle screen protector?
Q. I was planning to buy one, but after reading the comments, most are hard to put on (bubbles), etc. so kindle owners: do you have one of these plastic screen protectors?
A. Definitely get one. If you plan to take the Kindle outside I recommend the NuShield Dayvue film. It absorbs glare and lets you see the screen outdoors. It is very easy to install and NO bubbles. It is also very easy to remove and does not leave glue behind.
How strong is a Kindle Fire screen?
Q. I've seen mixed reviews from Kindle Fire owners on the durability of the Kindle Fire. Reports saying that a mere 3ft drop will shatter the Kindle Fires screen. But I'm hearing mixed reports as well that they replaced the glass of the kindle fire with 'gorilla' glass? I'm unsure as to how durable that is. Can someone tell me the durability of the kindle fire?
A. The kindle fire uses the same gorilla glass which other high end tablets use so it would break from the same height which any other tablet would break... The difference would come if you use a good protector for screen.
