Is it just like when you download music from your computer to your phone?,
can you list me websites where I can get free books please!
and any extra information?
would you recommend one?
doesn't it hurt your eyes, or is it just like an actual book?
does it make you feel unsecure that you dont actually own the actual book? and if the kindle broke moneys worth of books would be lost?
what kindle would you recommend/ has the most features (i prefre touch screen) and has the most storage for books
what can you do on the kindle, e.g bookmark books? can you bookmark more than one book?
every answer will be appreciated, if you can answer all these questions i will give you best answer! :D
also what of the books would you recommend?
A. Hi
I have one and I LOVE IT!
It doesn't hurt your eyes because it works on as normal books, which means if you're in a dark room you cannot read, because there is no screen light for you to read, which leads to no eye damage :)
The latest kindle, I'd recommend the 6 inch one, like the one I have because it's practical and comfortable to hold.
My first kindle broke...I broke it, because I was careless, so you should be careful not to toss it around or use it harshly because to be frank, it is a bit delicate when it comes to that.
I get my books at www.smashwords.com, some are free, some are supposed to be bought. I'd recommend you to read the The Queen's Blade series, it will cost you about $30 but it's worth it.
The charger comes with the kindle. Get a kindle holder, a kindle bag or anything you can afford. I have a kindle protector, a simple one like the ones you put on Blackberry's back.
Amazon does replace your kindle for free if it breaks, but that means the warranty will be no longer functional at that point.
As for getting the books, it's very simple. You either connect to the internet and get the books to come at your kindle from the book site you'll be using and when connected to the PC it will open a window and you'll be able to drag and drop any book/song/image you like at the specified folders :)
This is the one you're asking for : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051VVOB2/ref=famstripe_kf
But I'd recommend a simpler one like the 3G one, so you won't get caught up in other things rather than reading.
As for books.....Be prepared.....Go:
Must read :
The Queen's Blade
Harry Potter
The DaVinci Code
Angels and Demons
The Lost symbol
Water for elephants
The Hunger Games
Veronica decides to die
The Alchemist
11 minutes
Sapphire
A thousand splendid suns
Kite runner
And many others :P But this is the kind of literature I prefer and I think you'll enjoy reading it :)
Oh and Yes you can bookmark books. Kindle automatically lets you read from the last read page, so you won't lose track.
As for feeling secure for not owning the book. I'm a bookworm and at first I felt kind of silly going around reading e-books instead of print ones, but now I feel fine and I just love it. I read more than 5 hours a day, considering school and everything and I seriously recommend one.
Cheers! Have a great time and get one AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Judaism Question: Kindling the Sabbath Lights?
Q. Where in the Torah does God command us to kindle the sabbath lights? Is this an oral tradition or in the Scriptures?
Thanks!
A. It's not in the Tanakh; it's Talmudic. The original function of Shabbat candles was to enhance the enjoyment of the day by improving visibility. The sages realized that the domestic peace (shalom bayit) appropriate to the holy day would be diminished if members of the household were constantly stumbling over one another in the darkness.
Why Do Jewish Women Light Sabbath Candles on Friday Night?
According to Rashi (Talmud, Shabbat 31b), women are obligated to light Shabbat candles because women were responsible for dimming the world's light (Eve was tempted by the snake) and now they must bring light back into the world. Others say women are obligated simply because they are more associated with the home. The explanation I like best is that the naturally spiritual nature of women best qualifies them to be responsible for bringing the spirit of Shabbat into the home.
How Many Candles Should Be Lit on Friday Night?
The most common custom is to light two candles for the two important Biblical references to Shabbat: "Remember the Sabbath" (Exodus 20:8) and "Observe the Sabbath" (Deuteronomy 5:12).
However, many people light an additional candle for each child in the family, and others light seven candles for each day of the week or for the Temple's seven-branched menora.
How Should Sabbath Candles Be Lit?
After lighting the candles, the woman covers her eyes with her hands and recites the candle blessing.
After the blessing, some women add a silent prayer for the family.
Only after the blessing is recited, the woman uncovers her eyes and looks at the light. By covering her eyes, the woman can focus more fully on the blessing and can postpone the enjoyment of the fruits of the blessing (seeing the light) until after the blessing is recited.
