Should I get the iphone 5 or galaxy s3?

Well I own an iPhone 5. If you want a phone that feels high-quality, the iPhone 5 is great. It has an aluminum/glass back compared to the gs3's plastic. It is also considerably thinner and lighter. The gs3 has a larger screen, but please take into consideration that the phone is bigger. If you like Otterboxes and protective cases, you might have a hard time fitting the phone in your pocket. You also need two hands to use the phone (unless you have huge hands). The entire screen of the iPhone 5 can be reached with your thumb while holding it in one hand. The gs3's huge screen allows multitasking where you can watch a video in one corner while typing an email. If you're into lots of screen space, the gs3 is for you. They both feature LTE and a voice assistant (Siri and S-voice). If your friends have gs3's, you can use S-beam to share photos and music. You can trust iPhone 5 to live up to Apple's standards. Apple maps is actually ok. Google maps is still better.
Both phones are great and have their advantages. You should get iPhone 5 if you:
like/own Apple products
Want a thin/light phone that slips into your pocket
Have lots of apps/iTunes music
You should get Samsung Galaxy SIII if you:
like/need/want a large screen
Like Samsung products
Currently own/plan to buy Android products
Are ok with having a giant phone
