A. With an iPod touch in general, no. An iPod doesn't have a SIM card, so you can't call/text like an iPhone/cell phone can.
However, there are a few apps that can let you call and text. I'm not sure if the apps are free or not any more, but a while back they were. You can text/call with that app, but you HAVE to be in a WiFi zone/have access to WiFi.
I don't trust those apps with texting/calling family members. But its up to you I guess.

Q. I have a Samsung galaxy Q and I am going to the states in a few days and I wanted to bring my phone to use internet and take pictures but I don't know how in-able it so it wont receive calls or texts. I can use flight mode but I wanted internet. Any ideas?
A. take out sim card... then use WIFI area for internet...
or unlock the phone... buy a prepaid USA sim card... pop it in.. walla...
