Q. So I was checking out Samsung 8GB Galaxy Player 4.2 (YP-GI1CW/XAC) and was looking at their camera quality. The spec:
Still Image Resolution - 2MP
Video Resolution - 640 X 480
Video Frame Rate - 30 fps
So is it right that it produces somewhat high quality images, but poor videos? Can anyone give me a more in-depth explanation on what exactly 2MP means?
A. I shot this photo with a 2 megapixel camera http://www.urbanphotos.net/images/LVCD/slides/boardwalk_closeup2.html
It was an Olympus with 10x zoom, C20 or something. I forget the model number. I've owned dozens of digital cameras since they first came out. "Megapixels" isn't an indicator of image quality. The number of pixels is just a general guideline as to how large you can print the image on paper without distortions.
2MP = 1600 x 1200 which would be 100 dpi at 16x12 print size or 200 dpi at 8x6 print size. If you're using a camera that's built into a smart phone or MP3 player or whatever, image quality will not be very good. You have no shutter speed control. You have no aperture control. You have a tiny plastic lens that can't even really be called a "lens". You have no optical zoom. You can't adjust the ISO. You can't adjust the white balance. It''s basically a toy camera, the images won't look much better than what you'd get from a $5 cardboard disposable camera. Maybe worse.
I need advise on cameras?
Q. I am looking for a reasonable priced digital slr camera for christmas not too complex to use for a 15 year old. Any suggestions?
A. Samsung galaxy camera: basically a small tablet with a zoom lens!!
Go to a camera store?
How to take better pictures with my phone?
Q. I have a Samsung Galaxy Prevail and it has pretty good photo quality.
Its just whenever I take a picture of myself or others they tend to look ugly lol.
And they never look like myself or the person. D;
Should I just give up and resort to countless hours of editing or are there steps that I can take so that the picture comes out better?
Thanks!
LOL thanku Richard. I do have a camera but I thought phones were more convenient. But anyway I'll use that one instead. The phone takes piccies that look like poo.
-rolls eyes-
A. What you have is a telephone that also has a camera. If you want to take good photographs then get a camera.
A good camera has a lens that can focus. Your phone has a fixed focus lens that's "pretty good" but never perfect.
A good camera has glass optics rather than the little plastic wide angle lens on your phone.
A good camera can be adjusted to make changes to exposure, light colour balancing, and even zooming. Your phone has none of those features.
So, like you say, you can edit forever or get a camera rather than a phone.
Oh, one advantage of the phone is that it can be used to make calls.
