Which tablet for portable typing and note taking?
Q. I'm in the market for a tablet but am having difficulty making a choice since there is no clear winner.
I need something that is portable and that I can type on (preferably with a keyboard case) but also has touch screen capability.
I tried The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, and seems GREAT, and I love the stylus which would allow me to handwrite over my typed notes as well as add hand drawn diagrams. However I can't seem to find a keyboard case for it.
The iPad was my next option, but while there are many keyboard cases and it has a better build, I would likely miss having a stylus option.
I would like to have something that can type papers on the train, but would also allow touch. ( so far it looks like the Note but I'd be willing to consider other alternatives)
A. Go to you local computer store and try a few different ones, make sure you can type on the keyboards...
Format Samsung's MicroSD 32GB?
Q. Ok, so I got a galaxy note 10.1 for christmas and I've started using it as my celphone (I got the wifi+3g model). But now that I've transferred all the data I need in my phone, I've got almost no space left for movies and alikes so I searched for a MicroSD and infos. After a little bit of research I found out that I'd need to format my MicroSD to FAT32 in order to be able to use it completly. I asked a staff from samsung that hangs in a few cellphones stores in my city's mall and he said that if I bought Samsung's I wouldn't have to format it since both (the microSD and the tablet) were Samsung. So I bought it online and I've inserted it on my tablet. It says I have 29GB space free. I tried to move a few movies to the card but it said there was no space left. I tried some HD videos that I had downloaded from youtube (they were shorter than the movies, of course) and it worked. I then, once again, searched online and tried to format. Saw a video on yt saying all I had to do was format it using the tablet. Tried it and still got the problem. Tried connecting the tablet to the pc and use a tool but it shows only C and D.. An option for my tablet or card didn't show up. I tried also right clicking and then format but they didn't ask the size nor how I'd like format it. So I've ran out of ideas.. Do you guys know any way for me to do it?
Thanks if you've read it so far.
A. FAT32 limitations
individual files cannot exceed 4gb
therefore we have a problem in that you are using the SD like a storage media for
OTHER media, rather than Media created by the device that will LIMIT the size
and tell you that as its creating the media.
other things
having the same Make of card/device has no effect and no gain. In fact the SD
might easily have been incompatible.
some devices will have Size limits and 32gb is BIG. But you may not get an error
message until say a physical limit is detected eg if only a 16gb card is supported.
it is Always the case that any card should be formatted in the device it Lives in.
removing an Sd card and putting it into something else is dubious at best.
Each and every device has its OWN implementation of FAT32.
Small devices can NEVER implement FAT32 like a PC might. This is how SD cards
are often corrupted as a PC will do what it wants, whereas a device will do only what
the minimum is needed cos it aint got the space or time to worry about features a PC might implement.
There are TWO format commands for an SD card
Format to most people means Creating a FAT32 filing system in the Blank space
of a FAT32 partition
the other Format is a LOW LEVEL format that creates the STRUCTURE of the card.
This DEFINES its SIZE(free space) into which a PARTITION can be created.
Although most SD cards will only ever have the ONE partition created at the factory
some users regularly treat them like a hard drive and recreate many partitions in them.
if a card is playing up, due to misuse, moving it between devices, it will most likely
need Low Level Formatting.
hope some of that helps.
