How to stream content from iPad 2 to Samsung HDTV?

Q. Is there an easy way of doing this? My iPad's arriving tomorrow. I heard it's got AirPlay but I didn't know whether it only worked if it was iPad to Apple TV.

Thanks

A. To push your iPad 2 content to your HDTV you can do one of two things: (1) Push content via the Apple TV or (2) Mirror the content on your iPad via the Digital AV Adapter.

I recommend the Apple TV because it allows you the luxury of sitting on your couch, or any good distance from your TV, and controlling what you see. Essentially your iPad can act as a remote when showing photos with your families and friends, or for those moments when something hilarious happens in a movie and you want to rewind (scrubbing) - you can do all this from your iPad. With the Digital AV adapter you are limited on how far away you can be from the TV while controlling what you see. It is a less expensive solution although, and who knows... it might be a perfect solution for you.

How do i connect my ipad to my tv using the digital av adaptor?
Q. well i just bought a digital av adaptor from apple and it said i connect my ipad to my tv using an hdmi cable so please tell me how to do it

A. While you CAN hook your ipad2 to a monitor it is NOT a good idea to do so for more than a few minutes a month, the length of time it takes to make a short presentation.

You just hook the apple digital av adapter to the 30 pin, then hook your hdmi to the 30 pin port of the adapter and hook power to the other 30 pin slot. Don't try to run your pad on battery while trying to do "video mirroring". In theory it would work, but in the real world, you'll probably shorten the life cycle of your ipad.

You should remember other issues. A TV is NOT a monitor. Using a tv and an ipad will probably shorten BOTH their lives if you do it more than a few minutes a month.

Most importantly, be careful that no one trips over the cables. This is a MAJOR issue for people with laptops and tablets hooking their computers to a tv or monitor. Someone walks by and trips over the cable. If your ipad (or tablet or laptop) is damaged this way, it is NOT covered under your warranty. Your warranty covers defects in workmanship or materials ONLY.

If you want to "watch a movie" using an ipad, it is a VERY bad idea. Even a cheap 40 dollar dvd player or an 80 dollar blue ray player will have MUCH better quality. You don't know how well the person ripped the original video, it is almost never what it is advertised on torrents. computers use software decoding, NOT hardwaare decoding. You expose your ipad to malware. Remember that ios is NOT OSX and even OSX was exploited at pwn2own last year in under a minute.

Original Question

How to connect iPod touch to tv?
Q. I got a iPod touch 3G and iPod 4G. Which av cable would I need to see movies on my tv, it has a USB connection slot and av cable slots.

A. You could use an HDMI adapter for iDevices. Although they cost $25 at least.

Here's a link to one I found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Dock-Connector-HDMI-Adapter-Cable-iPad-iphone-4G-iPod-Touch-/270848196916?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item3f0fcf8134
