Q. Hi!
I am taking art for GCSE (like American finals) and for my coursework, I would like to do digital art as it is a bit different and funky.
I have used tablets for art before, but my friend (who has been using tablets for years) said I should get a Wacom as opposed to the Android I occasionally use. I dislike the Android as it is clumsy, old and needs realigning every few minutes, so I think it is time to upgrade.
What tablet should I get that meets the criteria:
-Price is unimportant.
-I will use it for drawing, sketching and painting.
-Needs to be durable and hard to break, as I am so clumsy.
-It needs to have quite a bit screen, so I can see it without my glasses.
-Have you ever used it? Did you like it?
-What software did you use on it, if any?
-Does it need any 'add ons', such as software, pens, nibs, etc?
A. i would prefer android, but wacom is good too, for android you will need a fat wallet, buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or 10.1, for wacom, i don't know, Bamboo tablet ?
EDIT:
i forgot answering your questions
for Galaxy Note 2 or 10.1
1. Skip
2. works for the note
3. needs a protective case
4. it's huge enough (10.1
5. for the 10.1 i never use it, but for the note 2, it's nice
6. S Note (stock)
7. No extra software needed
for Wacom:
1. Skip
2. Needs a computer (i guess)
3. Needs a protective bag (diffrent from the Note 10.1)
4. don't know
5. No, i never use it
6. don't know, but paint... sounds weird
7. no (i guess)
Is my boss allowed to lie to me like that? Someone stole our stuff from our lunchroom at work.?
Q. A few days back, at work, someone stole our money and phones from our bags. The person entered into our lunchroom and took them from the table/out of our bags. The reason we even kept them there was because 1. No one is allowed to enter them except staff 2. Our lockers had no keys so they did not feel any safer. My wallet with money and all my IDs was stolen and my phone. Other phones and wallets have disappeared too.
Since then our boss told us they had videocameras and will look at them. I kept calling and asking her because I really wanted to know if it was someone from work or a stranger (and yes, stupidly enough a smart stranger was able to go upstairs without even so much as opening a door). She told me the owner of our store has seen the videos, they know who did it, but she will not tell me just yet. First, they will hand out the video to the police. I was really persistent with my asking because I consider I have a right to know who did this to me and if my posessions are safe at work.
I asked her if we will get keys for our lockers now and she answered "Partially, yes". After I called again a week later my other boss said the lockers have no keys just yet. So obviously the other one lied to me. Also she said she does not want to get herself involved into this so I will just have to wait to find out who the thief was.
That made me really angry so I simply went to the police with my passport and the Case Number and he had a look into our file from that day. The report said "We have been told there are 2 cameras in the rooms where only staff is allowed, but both do not function." And I was like "Well yes, but my boss said they sent you the video where you can see the thief" and he answered "Young lady, there is no video." (This was one week after my boss told me they gave the videos to the police) So my boss basically lied to me about this too. I called my colleague who also got robbed and told her about it, she didn't even know anything about any video. Turns out I was the only one believing there still is hope as I was the only one being lied to.
Is she allowed to do that? Just lie to me like that? I plan to confront her on my next day at work, tho I am scared I will be fired for going behind her back to the police. On the other hand I am not sure I still want to work there after what happened to me, especially with my boss lying to me.
Also I have borrowed money to buy a new phone I have wanted for a long time and now I am scared to take it to work with me, especially since we still can't...lock our lockers. And I am not allowed to take the phone with me while I am at word. I can't take another phone, a cheap one, and put the sim into it because my new phone has that nano sim or whatever it is named.
So my questions are: Is my boss allowed to lie to me like that? Any ideas on how I can hide my phone from her but still keep it with me at all times? Obviously, the thing I got from being a fair worker and leaving my phone in the lunchroom was my phone vanishing. I can't really wear baggy clothes at work, we have to be dressed elegantly and "in style".
It's a pretty big phone, as well, I got the Samsung Galaxy SIII.
Edit 1: We simply are not allowed. I don't understand either, because I didn't plan on using my phone during worktime but simply having it with me, turned off. But it's the rules...
Also, no, they will not pay us a dime. I don't live in the U.S. - apparently we have other rules here, they don't even feel responsible for what happened. At all. Not even for the not working cameras. It is our fault for leaving our stuff there.
Edit 2: My stolen phone was a Nokia C7.
A. I am guessing your boss told you that the person who stole your stuff was filmed and they know who did it, in the hope that you would go tell everyone at work and if the robber was one of your work mates they might get scared and hold there hands up
its not nice to be the one who is used to feed the lie to the rest of your work mates but if it had worked you would of been happy
if your not allowed your phone at work why not leave it and any money you might have, at home it makes me laugh how people must have there phones with them at all times, i never had a mobile til i was 35 so we coped then with out them 24/7 im sure we can now
What did Steve Jobs actually DO?
Q. From what I have read, he donated almost nothing to charity, was a complete tyrant as a boss and as a person, and took credit for other people's work (the engineers who worked for him). Why do people idolize this scum?
A. He didn't really do anything but create overpriced computers and advertise them using only emotional and personal appeal and not really using facts on how good they were inside.
People worship him mainly either because
a) they think he invented the first Mac and the first Mac OS
-Actually Steve Wozniak did, Jobs never even knew coding
b) they think his computers are superior to PC and are "futuristic"
-actually a gross over exaggeration as Apple simply sells horrible computers with a nice looking aluminum casing for a very large amount of money. Their business is actually selling overpriced computers that are too costly to upgrade, especially since you can't buy your own parts and replace hardware yourself, and releasing the "next big thing" to their fanboys with "future" technology at a higher price, which was actually available years before, but they don't know that, so they buy a WHOLE NEW computer at full price. From there, they discontinue support and retail of the previous model, forcing you to buy full price. Cycle continues.
c) They think that Macs are more powerful because how fast they are compared to their "old" PC.
-usually only when they bought a cheap prebuilt PC with unrealistic expectations of what it could do
d) They are hipsters, trying to use what is not popular, because they are "individuals"
e) they believe Steve Jobs invented the first smart phone
-The first smart phone was actually the IBM Simon, Apple just refocused on using touch screen technology, and have already been bested by competitors (see the Samsung Galaxy SII)
f) They believe the computers look so good and are incredibly expensive, they must be good
-basically meaning they look at the casing instead of opening it and looking around its insides
e) They have been turned into sheeple because of their advertising schemes
-I'm a Mac, I am better than everyone around me and am relatable because I too am a lax teenager, and you will always be an insubordinate in life until you buy me
f) They are majoring in liberal arts or some other useless degree and want editing programs.
-I always find this reason funny because the apple editing programs are not worth $500+ in a computer, and how stupid can you be to only buy a computer just because of its editing programs instead of buying a good computer first, then buying the programs seperate?
i) they are too oblivious to technology and how computers work (like processors, mobos, RAM, etc.)
-From here, Apple takes advantage of these people, it is very well known that they overcharge for their products
From there, they attribute all this "futuristic" technology to Steve Jobs and think he is an absolute genius for making something so "simple" and "innovative"
Whenever you encounter a Mac fanboy who claims Mac to be better than PC through the amazing genius of Steve Jobs, ask them how much their computer cost and what its specs are, and I guarantee you they will stop talking.
@Vomit
I have no problem with people liking the OS from Apple, I'm fine with that, OS is personal preference (if you don't intend to make your computer a gaming computer or expect it to do more than a basic computer would)
The Problem is that people mostly praise Steve Jobs for "reinventing" the computer when Apple, in reality, makes really bad computers (hardware wise) and suck their customers's wallets dry of cash by taking advantage of how little computing knowledge they have.
Sure, Steve Jobs saved Apple from debt, but what did he really save? A corrupt and manipulative monopoly on popular but worthless computers? He doesn't deserve worship for that.
