Q. I am planning to buy and unlock a samsung galaxy s3 in the US to bring back to belgium/switzerland to use. I saw a forum saying that to unlock a s3 and use on a different carrier, you would only receive an edge connection. IS that true?
I've also check and most carriers in europe uses a bandwidth of 900 and 1800 which is the same as most US carriers
A. depends on what carrier you'd be using but it can work
How can I unlock 3g&4g on my non-American Samsung Galaxy S3?
Q. I got a Samsung Galaxy S3 from my country and came to America and got a T-mobile sim card but it seems that I can't get 3g and 4g speeds for some reason. Is there any way I can fix/unlock this?
A. Nope, it has nothing to do with unlocking. The phone doesn't support the T-Mobile 3G (1700MHz) / 4G bands so you won't get 3G or 4G ever on T-Mobile. You might try a AT&T SIM and that'll hopefully work fine on your phone.
can you use a postpiad phone on prepaid if its the same network or vice versa?
Q. I have a samsung galaxy s blaze 4g for t-mobile on t-mobiles prepaid network. If i wanted to, could i activate this phone on t-mobile's Postpaid network? or would i have to unlock the phone 1st?
A. You do not need to unlock the phone as you are still using the same carrier. You would unlock the phone only if you plan on jumping to another carrier.
Going from a prepaid to a postpaid plan can be done. You don't need to do anything except inform the carrier your intentions. Everything is handled through the SIM card and not the phone.
