Q. im trying to put .DOC and PDF files onto my kindle through usb but i don't know how. it says to drag and drop them to and from your file browser. i don't know what that is or how to find it. do i drag the files to the kindle from the email they sent me or from somewhere else? please if you can, could someone tell me exactly step by step how to put the documents on. A. 1. Email an attachment of the file to âYourkindlenameâ@free.kindle.com to be converted.
The file will be converted and emailed back to you.
2. Open up your email
3. Download the file to your computer
4. Connect your Kindle to your computer with the USB cable.
5. A window should pop open with these three Kindle folders: DOCUMENT, AUDIBLE, and MUSIC.

If the window does not pop open, locate the START button at the bottom left-hand corner of your computer, click on MY COMPUTER, locate KINDLE as a REMOVABLE device, and click to open...you will see the three files.

6. Locate the converted file on your computer.
7. Drag and drop it into the DOCUMENT folder
8. Disconnect your Kindle from the computer
9. Go to your Kindle HOME screen.
10. Locate the new file, open and read.
To avoid all these steps, email the attachment to: YourKindleName@kindle.com for a small fee.
The file will be converted and sent directly to your Kindle.

Q. I'm borrowing my friend's kindle and I'm trying to upload my own document to the kindle using USB port, but after i drag it into the file, it still doesn't show up on the kindle. Am I doing something wrong? Please help!
A. What format are the files in? The reader app only reads specific file formats - pdf and mobi being the primary ones.

A. Two things to consider:
1. What type of document. If you just transferred a Word file for example onto the Kindle, it won't recognize it. It has a limited selection of document file types it recognizes.
2. The Kindle is organized into folders. I believe a folder called Documents is where documents must be put, Music where music must be put. Anything else and I don't think it shows up.
