Q. Which one should I buy what is better??
A. Hi, Joe, if you want the best get iPad as it is a much better device that has a larger screen, two cameras, and over 500,000 apps/games in iTunes store. However, it is also much more expensive, heavier and less portable to take with you on the go. Kindle Fire is not a replacement as it is one underpowered device. Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble clearly is the superior device. Not just 11.5 hours battery life but 9 hours of video playback time - that's vs. 8 hours for reading and 7.5 hours of video playback on Kindle Fire. 1.0 GB RAM Vs. 512 MB RAM of Kindle Fire, 16 GB content capacity plus 32 GB via microSD card vs. 8 GB capacity of Kindle Fire with no expansion slot. Fully laminated HD screen for reduced glare vs. no lamination of Kindle Fire. Bulit-in and optimized Netflix and Hulu plus with millions of movies/shows vs. 100K movies/shows of Amazon store. Many popular apps in Nook app Store (like Angy Birds, Pandora, QuickOffice, etc.) Nook Tablet has built-in mic for Skype voice conferencing and dictations to speech recognition software and it weights only 14.1 oz. Nook already has Cloud as all eBooks in your online library are stored there as well as downloaded to your device.
Also, If you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, youâre allowed to read ANY available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi and you get free technical support in case of issues in any of the store.
In addition, Nooks (since Nook Color) are the darlings of the root'ing community especially because they have microSD slot (not on Kindle Fire or iPad) thus Nooks can be rooted by burning OS image on the microSD card and booting off it without rooting the actual device and voiding the warranty. On Kindle, once you rooted there's no coming back.
You can buy Nookâs at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Millon, Walmart, BestBuy, Staples, OfficeMax, Fred Mayer, P.C. Richard, Radio Shack, Target, Fry's, Kmart, Sears etc. stores and web sites.
Which device would seem better for ME? The Samsung Galaxy Player or the iPod toucg 4g?
Q. More specifically I'm trying to decide what I should get for Christmas, a white 16GB iPod Touch 4g or The Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 or 5.0.I cant decide becuase what one lacks, the other has. Its really hard for me to choose even though Ive seen comparisons & reviews on both.
Here's what I'm specifically looking for in a device:
-Something to go on the internet and get full HTML browsing and possibly flash compatabilities
-Something that can easily go on Facebook, Yahoo, and YouTub
-One that can play Temple Run, Angry Birds, and alot of fun games
-One with good accessories like cases and good compatability to head phones and plugs
-One that can easily get Spotify, Pandora, and download music easily
-One that wont break or crack if I drop it (im clumsy) or one that has really good, protective cases--One that wont seem really old, obsolete, or slow in a couple if years
I know that they both can do alot of the same things but I feel like one can do them better and Please please no answers like "ipod is gay, samsung all the way" or "android sucks bad, get apple you will be glad"
Thank you everybody :D!!
A. -Something to go on the internet and get full HTML browsing and possibly flash compatabilities
If you want flash- samsung player. Both have full html.
-Something that can easily go on Facebook, Yahoo, and YouTube
Both +- the same.
-One that can play Temple Run, Angry Birds, and alot of fun games
iPod's apps are better optimized, has more games, but the app store is so ugly and slow, it is pain to download something from here, really hate the app store slowlyness, design and overal performance. Most good games are paid or very limited (unless you buy features or whole game). Google play has ENOUGH games, trust me. But they are not as optimized (some games may load slowier, force close- but it is like 2 times out of 50).
-One with good accessories like cases and good compatability to head phones and plugs
iPod all the way. You wont have hard time finding accessories for it while you will have problems with galaxy.
-One that can easily get Spotify, Pandora, and download music easily
If you dont want to pay for music- galaxy 100proc. You can simply drag .mp3 from you pc. Also it has free music apps. You will need to pay for iPod's music, unless you jailbreak it. Both has pandora and spotify.
-One that wont break or crack if I drop it (im clumsy) or one that has really good, protective cases--One that wont seem really old, obsolete, or slow in a couple if years
iPod is 2010 technology. It is already old. Also if you wont jail it to case its alluminum back will get scrached a lot in few weeks. Galaxy is newier and more intresting device. Pobably ipod would crack faster, unless you buy a good PROTECTIVE case.
I'd say go and touch them. Buy one which feels better in your hands.
Help...Birthday's Coming Soon?
Q. I am going to get the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. Just a couple of questions:
1) Can I get Service ANYWHERE without connecting to wifi (like 3g)?
2) Can I delete apps that come with the device?
Best answer...10 pts :)
A. The Galaxy Player is very specifically *not* a cell phone. You cannot use a cell phone data plan (3g, LTE, etc.) to connect to the internet. Connection to the internet can only be accomplished via wifi.
You can, however, use certain cell phones as wifi hotspots. That means you could use a cell phone to temporarily provide wifi and then connect the Player to that wifi.
If you need cell phone data connection directly from the Samsung then bypass the Galaxy "Player" and instead get one of the Samsung Galaxy phones that the "Player" is based off of (but then you'll also have to get a phone plan for it).
As for apps, you can freely delete any app not marked as a "system" app. For "system" apps you'll have to "root" the device and then use an app like Titanium Backup Pro to either put system apps to "sleep" (not run) or actually delete them. Titanium is a great app for this because you can make a backup of your apps before you remove them (in case you need to re-install them later).
Good luck!
