How do you set up a mic to a MacBook Pro?

Q. I have this microphone application on my iPhone, and I recently got a MacBook Pro with the newest software update. I've been trying to record some songs with just my earbuds in, but it sounds just too raw. So, I figured I would download a mic app on my phone. Please help (:

Original Question

What are the best in-ear earbuds for $100 or under?
Q. I am looking for some that sound great, but don't want to spend over $100. Keep in mind, I have small ears. I would prefer that they can be ordered on Amazon, as I have Prime. Must work with both Android (HTC Rezound phone) and Apple (iPad mini).

A. If REAL quality is an issue, please stick to REPUTABLE brands only such as B&W, Sennheiser (most affordable), Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Audio-Technica (NOT to be mixed with Technic which is utter rubbish as well!), Etymotic or Beyerdynamic. Things like V-Moda, Klipsch, Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Philips are ONLY "okay-ish" indeed. Please do NOT fall a victim to FASHION ACCESSORIES by buying Boombox, Ministry of Sound, Sol/Republic/Revolution, Noontec Zoro's, Benetton, a-jays, iFrogz, Marley, Fanny Wang, Razer, Karl Kani, WESC, Turtle, JH, Dr.Dre/Beats/Solo, Ludacris/Soul, Koss, Skullcandy, Lady GaGa, Skullcrushers, Monsters nor Bose, because they are ALL seriously overhyped and overpriced "fashion blingbling gimmicks" with a very poor durability and sound quality, NOTHING else (and those who try to claim they are good do NOT know ANYTHING about QUALITY anyway!), BE THEM FAKE OR NOT!

Original Question

I have a iPod touch 5 th gen and this week my volume has drastically decreased.?
Q. The volume is to say the least gotten worse. My speakers work fine. Although when I plug in earbuds or headphones then the problem shows itself. I don't get any sound until the slider is at midpoint. I have been recently been using a bass amp as my stereo system. I don't know if that's a cause. I have plugged it into both the passive and active terminals in my heart key bass amp. I have also run my iPod speakers at max. I have got into my setting and my music volume is set to no restriction already. I only have this volume problem wile playing music. I don't have this problem when watching vids on a browser. Any tips would be helpful.

A. Your question is confusing to say the least, but I think I understand what you're saying. If you are using a case on your iPod and any aftermarket plug for earphones or stereo connector you're the victim of a too small hole. Try pulling your case off and plugging your connector in.
You may have not plugged your connector all of the way in too, sometimes there's just a millimeter worth that isn't plugged in, you can try that too, if you see any silver sticking out it's not plugged in completely.
There is the possibility of a cold solder issue in which case you'll have to take it back or into the Apple store for repairs. Before you go that route though I'd check the cable I'm connecting to my stereo with - is it one you bought or made? I've tried both myself and the ones that don't work well out number the ones that do.
If you're using a 3.5mm - 3.5mm connector (headphone plug to headphone plug) then go buy a new one for $3 and see, if it didn't fix it then take it back.
If you're using 3.5mm to RCA (headphone to White and Red connectors) these are infamously jacked up. When I plug my iPhone, iPod or iPad into my stereo I have to turn it up to like 40 to start hearing anything at all. I've tried a few home made cables, a few store bought and finally got the best performance from a monster cable. It ended up costing a bit more than I wanted to spend but it gets the job done best.
If in the end none of this stuff works, you will have to go to the Apple store and be ignored for 3 and half hours and pursue a repair, hopefully not htough.
