Q. for me, i think it's Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 because i can play, watch movies, design pictures and even use it in education!
A. O.S:
Android. If you want Windows 8 stick away from them for a while this video will explain everything very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_wrAzhVKPw . or just avoid the surface RT tablets due to software compatability issues and wait for the tablets with x86 processors to become available. Don't go with Apple unless you understand other options and better value (my opinion).
Most powerful:
Asus transformer. Great design, powerful hardware and most up to date Android OS. Can do everything the Galaxy note can bet better and faster. 10-11 inches. hefty price tag though. can be used in conjunction with a keyboard for word prossecing and other educational uses.
Portable:
this would go to the Nexus 7. Excellent size and powerful hardware as well as feeling great during use. Dimesions are proportioate and a variety of cases are available. Asus made and google marketed and funded to make quality control at utmost importance. cheap and high quality ($250 AUD). beware that it is in its first genereation and educational uses may be impractacul.
Tips:
Avoid any unknown O.S.' (Operating Systems). The most well known and the best are Android, iOS and Symbian with the most progressing and future proof being Android. Unknown O.S' (e.g. some HP tablets include an unheard of O.S") have limited app support so hardly anything is developed for them due to limited market.
Shop around. Spending time researching your purchase is always a good idea. Get the best deal and don't forget about added costs of accesories, warranties and software. Check that the product your looking for has the desired accessories available and at least has as little proprietary ports as possible, but that is not a nesscity.
Avoid gimmics. Don't by a tablet because you can do a task that has limited capability. i for example chose the 3-d option on my laptop but find myself hardly using it. if you are comparing 2 or more tablets and one has more practical functionality than go for it.
Storage and compatability tips:
if you must decide on 2 similar tablets, i would choose the one with external storage capability. This means you could but a micro sd card into the machine and expand your storage.beware of the Andorid market as each different model or brand will likely feature different chargers or device connecters.
Other tips:
- Buy within your budget. Don't splurge to get the bleeding edge, get what you require. most tablets will fit your requirements of video, picture editing and educative uses.
- Avoid first generations. They can sometimes be buggy or low on features when compared to other tablets.
if you're looking for mobile internet connectivity, possibly get your tablet on a plan.
cheers and hope this helped and sorry for the miss spellings, i was in a rush :P
How to boost cell phone signal and receptioon?
Q. i have at&t netwoork and the samsung flight 2 smartphone. it is fine with texting but if i make or recieve a call it drops the call, sometimes it seems static-y or broken up. i cant afford a new phone and my credits to get a new service provider. how can i make this phone better? cheap easy fixes. can i put tinfoil around the battery and get clear reception? (sorry if i misspelled anything)
A. This post for how to disable at&t &use any sim card do with your own risk...its work on me... Open the Phone Screen and Type the following code:
* # * # 1 9 7 3 2 8 6 4 0 # * # *
The phone will automatically take you to a screen called:
SERVICE MODE
AND YOU WILL SEE THESE OPTIONS:
----------------------
[1] DEBUG SCREEN
[2] VERSION INFO
[3] UMTS RF NV
[4] GSM RF NV
[5] AUDIO
[6] COMMON
----------------------
all these options are written very very small so you will have to touch the screen very accurately to get the right one... so select them in the following order:
[1] Debug Screen
+
[8] Phone Control
+
[7] Network Control
+
[2] Band Selection
Once you Tap on "Band Selection" you will have a screen stating these 4 Options:
-------------------------
= BAND SELECTION =
[1] Automatic [*]
[2] WCDMA Band []
[3] GSM Band []
[4] Combi Bands []
-------------------------
The Asterisk ' * ' indicates what option has been chosen, in this case the selection is on "AUTOMATIC" which is correct: the Phone will pick the best Network to work, we just have to make sure that the Phone is searching in all the Possible Networks because by Default some of them are Disabled.
So Tap on:
[2] WCDMA Band []
and on the screen you will see appearing the following Options:
----------------------------------
= WCDMA BAND =
[1] WCDMA ALL []
[2] WCDMA 2100(FDD I) [*]
[3] WCDMA 1900(FDD II) [*]
[4] WCDMA 900(FDD VIII) [*]
[5] WCDMA 850 (FDD V) []
-----------------------------------
In my case, since the Telephone comes from Europe, the 850 Band is not enabled and you can tell that by the fact that it doesn't have the ' * ' beside it.
JUST TAP ON
[5] WCDMA 850 (FDD V)[]
the phone in about a second will tell you that the Option has been Enabled.
~~~To Go Back DO NOT USE THE "LOOPED ARROW" Button~~~
=== PRESS THE "MENU" BUTTON
and select "BACK" ===
now on the screen you should see the Asterisk beside all the Frequencies, like this:
----------------------------------
= WCDMA BAND =
[1] WCDMA ALL []
[2] WCDMA 2100(FDD I) [*]
[3] WCDMA 1900(FDD II) [*]
[4] WCDMA 900(FDD VIII) [*]
[5] WCDMA 850 (FDD V) [*]
----------------------------------
Now, just to make sure that we did everything right, let's press again the "MENU BUTTON" and select again "BACK" so we go back to the
" =BAND SELECTION= " Screen:
-------------------------
= BAND SELECTION =
[1] Automatic [*]
[2] WCDMA Band []
[3] GSM Band []
[4] Combi Bands []
-------------------------
This time, let's choose a different Option:
Tap On:
[4] Combi Bands []
and you will see a screen giving many more Bands Options like this:
----------------------------------
= COMBINATION BANDS =
[1] GSM 850 [*]
[2] GSM 900 [*]
[3] DCS 1800 [*]
[4] PCS 1900 [*]
[5] WCDMA 2100(FDD I) [*]
[6] WCDMA 1900(FDD II) [*]
[7] WCDMA 900(FDD VIII) [*]
[8] WCDMA 850 (FDD V) [*]
----------------------------------
Make sure that there is the ' * ' beside the "WCDMA 850 (FDD V)" if you don't see it, Tap on that Option so that it will be enabled.
And then go Back (remember you have to do that with the "MENU BUTTON" and not with the "LOOPED ARROW" Button) and make sure that all the Bands have been enabled.
If all the 8 Different Bands Options have the Asterisk beside it, you have successfully enabled all the 3G Bands available and now you will be able to access the 850Mhz 3G Network Spectrum.
ONCE YOU ARE DONE PRESS THE "MENU" BUTTON AND CHOOSE: " END "
This is it, for me it worked, now i am using my Samsung Galaxy S with AT&T 3G and for now, i didn't have any problem... i don't know if in the future AT&T will "'bitch'" about this, but i really hope not.
After all, it's their fault that they keep locking down the Android Phones that they sell making them as much Unusable as an iPhone.
I hope this post help
What is a good handheld device for playing media?
Q. My phone doesn't support many formats, so I'm looking for something I can carry around for my music, pictures and video. I hate iPod, so I don't care what you say, I'm not getting one. I hate Apple, so don't recommend them to me. I'm just looking for a simple device, preferably with a camera on it that can support video capture as well as pictures.
