what is the best windows ready tablet ?

Q. I have an iPad and I want a tablet that runs on windows and can handle flash player. I really don't care for the iPad. Which tablet is best for viewing in windows and watching youtube? I would really like some input from those who own a windows tablet. Thanks.

A. If Windows OS compatibility and a digitizer pen are important to you, consider the ASUS Eee Slate or HP Slate 500. The biggest differences between those are that the ASUS has a better display (12.1 inch AFFS 1280x800) than the HP (8.9 inch TFT 1024x600) but is larger, heavier and more expensive. Both the Eee Slate and the HP Slate 500 are expensive, however: Eee Slate is ~$1,200; HP Slate 500, ~$770. A more economical Windows 7 tablet is the Acer Tab W500, which runs about $500 and includes a keyboard and dock.

If you can get away from Microsoft Office, you'll have many more options. For example, you can use compatible software on Android such as Polaris Office for editing documents (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files. The ASUS Eee Transformer (TF101) comes with Polaris Office 3.0 pre-loaded. The other interesting feature of the TF101 is its optional ($160) dock (which extends battery life to a whopping 16 hours) and keyboard.

Original Question

Is there any news or rumors about a next iPad release?
Q. I just wanted to know if there were any news or rumors about a new iPad and if so what are the new features?

A. No. Apple has no current interests in evolving a new iWhatever mobile platform anytime soon. Apple has already spent many hundreds of millions of dollars investing on the digitizer panels that utilize touch input specifically for the iPad and iPhone 4. They, Apple, own about 60% of the world's supplies of touch screen digitizers and have announce no interest in a new platform. The iOS 4 for the iPad is still buggy, and new features will be utilized in the future with software updates. The iOS 4.2 update that is currently available had already implemented more strategic uses of the current hardware. I wouldn't expect a new hardware device from Apple for at least another couple of years.. at least with their mobile products. Instead, Apple is jumping the Television bandwagon and looking to release other iDevices like the AppleVision TV. You can find out more about that below.

If you're looking to sneak a peak at new potential features of current iPad devices being "unlocked" by future software releases, you'll have a hard time finding out about it.. unless an apple engineer leaves his phone at a bar somewhere. Apple is pretty strict about its' "TOP SECRET" designs and releases. This helps Apple keep the upper hand when soliciting updates to its proprietary software; making it hard for Android, and RIM to compete.

Original Question

Do you need to replace digitizer if iPad lcd screen is cracked?
Q. Okay so I dropped my iPad and now the lcd screen is cracked. The glass is fine, so I was wondering if I need to replace digitizer as well. I would also like to know the price of the digitizer and lcd replacement costs. Thank you.

A. 1 - there are actually TWO parts you really need to replace on an iPad to repair a broken screen, the front glass panel (this item) and the "mid board". Most front panels on the market include the mid board pre-adhered on the back of the glass panel. This product comes without a mid board and you will will need to either try to remove the existing one on your iPad w/o damaging it (virtually impossible as the adhesive is very strong). The mid board w/o the glass panel was very hard to find for sale on the web. Once,

2 - Opening your iPad w/o damaging the case is hard. Spend your money on a high quality metal case opening tools. Be warned, all the videos on the web greatly undersell the difficulty of this step. They neglected to show that all of the tabs are on the top, bottom and the right. If you can get the case open the rest is not too hard.
