Q. And how can I adjust them? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere? Is there a good forum or web page that helps Kindle Fire owners figure these things out?
A. I've noticed the notification chime happens when you've connected to a wi-fi network, and something's been updated or if you've got an email app, there are new emails in your account.
I have no clue how to adjust it.
How do you turn on swype on the kindle fire hd?
Q. i just got my kindle fire hd replaced and the other one had swype and i didnt even realize that i turned it on. now im confused about how to turn it on. its the smaller kindle, 7. something? thanks!
A. It should be built-in and you don't need to turn it on. If your Kindle Fire HD doesn't have Swype, you may need to get the latest software update to have it:

See here on how to use Swype on the Kindle (search for "swype" on the page):

Hope that helps.
How do I make my Kindle show the real page numbers?
Q. I have a Kindle DX that I got in February, and I like it. But I hate not being able not to tell what page I am on. How do I make it show them?
A. The page number feature began with Kindle Software Update Version 3.1. Unfortunately, the Kindle DX is not capable of running Kindle Software Update Version 3.1 and so cannot show real page numbers.
For Kindle 3 owners, make sure you have the update:
"From Home, select Menu, then Settings. On the Settings screen you will see the Kindle version at the bottom of the screen." http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200529700
Also, realize that the page display feature depends on the ebook:
"Not all Kindle books include page numbers. Kindle books that include page numbers will list "Page Numbers Source ISBN (the print book identification number)" for the matching print edition under "Product Details" on the detail page at Amazon.com. If the Page Numbers Source ISBN (the print book identification number)" listed under "Product Details" on the product detail page is the same edition as your print book, the Kindle page numbers will match the page numbers in the printed edition." http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_k3softwareupdate_pages?nodeId=200505500&#pages
