Q. I am thinking about learning iOS so I can develop some apps for personal use and sale. I am not a programmer by profession, so I'd like a book that isn't too full of programmer lingo, and that's relatively clear and intuitive. I don't want anything "for dummies" or "idiot's guide," just a good, solid, clear book. Thanks!
A. You don't go and just learn iOS. It isn't something you learn. Start with "The C Programming Language", then graduate to "Programming In Objective-C", and then graduate up to the CocoaTouch API's web documentation, and you won't even need an iOS book. Mobile development, especially iOS development, is a lot more straightforward than PC development, but much more difficult as there are not as many tools and API's available. If the straightforwardness of mobile development were applied to PC development, I would be in love with that platform.
How do I get my songs back onto my itouch after I updated the iOS on my itouch?
Q. I have a iPod touch. The iOS was 4.2 so I upgraded the iOS to 6.1.3. Now that I try to sync my itouch only 4 out of 700+ songs show up on my itouch; however, all 700+ songs show up on my iTunes. In addition, when syncing my itouch, it looks like its not completely syncing because there are usually 6 steps it takes to sync. Mine syncing stops at 4 of 6 every time. What can I do to get all my songs and playlists back onto my itouch? Thanks.
A. If sync doesn't work then why use it? Just use manual management instead. I've used that for years and I always get the songs on that I want.
Some people have come to the conclusion that you can't use manual management on iTunes 11 or iOS 6, but I've done this with my spouse's iPhone 5.
What's the easiest and quickest way to update my iPhone 3G to iOS 4?
Q. I've tried updating my iPhone 3G to iOS 4, but the backup takes FOREVER. So usually I end up, just not updating it, 'cause I really don't have the patience.
What's the easiest and quickest way to update my iPhone 3G to iOS 4, without losing any of the data on my phone?
And why does it take so long in the first place?
A. iPhone 3G is not good enough to run iOS 4, it drag a lot, I have tried that, and then I am back to 3.1.3
