Q. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket but the charger port is broken. I need a way to charge my phone. Any ideas?
A. Battery charger rather that phone charger should do the trick. Youd have to remove the battery from phone and the charger will connect to the battery thus bypassing the damaged charging port on your phone. I've seen them before but never used one myself. Check a RadioShack in your area or online. Sorry that's all I can suggest. Good luck !!
Or just as a quick temporary solution to hold you over til you can figure something out you could find someone you know with a galaxy and charge you battery in their phone then just put it back in yours once its done charging.
How long is to long to leave your battery charging?
Q. So I had a question relating to cellphone batteries, pertaining on how to take care of them. So I've been told that now with phone batteries running on Lithium Ion batteries there are ways that one has to care for them. For example I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 I've been told to not over charge the phone otherwise it will expand the battery to the point where it kills the battery. My question is how long is over charging it.The reason I ask is because I fell asleep and left my phone plugged in the charger with 100% battery life for about an hour until I woke up and immediately unplugged the phone. Did I already kill the battery from that one hour over charge?
A. I've been told the opposite. With Lithium ion, the phone knows to trickle charge once it's charged. I leave mine on the charger overnight all the time. I've done that quite a while now, without any problems.
The battery is always dead on Samsung Galaxy W?
Q. My girlfriend is having a problem with her Samsung Galaxy W. The battery is constantly dying. We even went to the point of buying a new, higher capacity battery for it but it's still dying within a few hours. In the course of three hours it will go from 100% battery down to 20%. Anybody have any ideas about what's going on and how to improve battery life?
A. In addition to what BethyMac said, the biggest battery killer for smartphones is the display. If you look at the battery status tool under Settings, you'll see the bar graph for the display is the lingers of all.
If she's indoors, she needs to keep the screen level lower. Most screens look fine at 50% or less indoors. Outdoors is different, since it's harder to see. There are widgets on the Play Store that you can install (for free, in many cases) that will allow her to toggle the brightness of the screen. Also, in Settings -> Display, she can adjust the brightness and turn on automatic brightness, which will allow the phone to adjust the screen based on the surrounding light.
She should also condition her battery from time to time. Lithium ion batteries have a chip in them that needs to be refreshed on occasion. Run the phone until the battery goes low enough so the phone shuts itself off. The attach the charger and let the phone charge for one hour after the charge indicator says it's full. You might want to have her do this two or three times initially, then once every two weeks after. That should help recondition the battery.
