Q. I'm finding a tablet that can be used as a phone with SMS messaging and call support like the samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus...
Is there any other models or brand that has the same features?...
Price is not an issue...I just need info...
Thanks in advance!
Regards!
In addition, I need unlocked versions... :)
A. I can give you two choices ..... new android 4.0 tablets now available. Those tablet are the "iPad killers" and supporting SMS messaging with the "mySMS" application.
- Cube U9GT2 (16GB) ~249$
- ONDA vi40 Elite (16GB) ~289$
Both the Onda VI40 Android 4.0 IPS Capacitive tablet PC and the Cube U9T2 ICS have very similar specifications and features. First is the 9.7" Capacitive multi-touch IPS screen.
Onda made its name way back in 2008 when it released a 4.3" touch screen mp4 player that please called an iPod Touch wannabe or alternative. This model did well, but the marketing and product development of the company went astray.
This is why I was both suprised and happy to be reviewing first 9.7" Android 4.0 tablet PC by Onda, the VI40 Elite Edition Tablet PC. Boasting 9.7-inch 1024 x 768 capacitive multi-touch IPS display it seems to be 5-point touch. It adopts the fastest yet 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A10 processor with Mali-400 GPU (graphics processor).
The onda VI40 Elite tablet also packs dual cameras, a 1.3 Mega Pixel front-facing camera and a 5.0M pixel rear-facing camera. More the VI40 supports 2160p Super HD video playback.
It has a 6500mAh battery giving you around 4.5 to 5 hours of internet surfing time.
The Cube U9GT2 also has a 9.7" IPS screen but with a more responsive 10-point multi touch screen. The processor is not as fast but will do the job clocking in at 1.2GHz on a Rockchip RK2918 CPU.
In addition to a better screen, the Cube Android 4.0 Tablet also has 16gb of built-in memory compared to Onda's 8gb. The Cube tablet also has larger 8000mah battery for 6 hours of internet surfing or "10 hours music, 4 hours video, 5 hours wifi."
The Cube doesn't have a 5mp camera but it does have dual 2 mega pixel cameras for quality photos and video from front and back.
The Onda VI40 Elite may prove to rule supreme as today's android tablet forum enthusiasts like the cheapest deal, even if the battery only gets an hour less usage from a full charge.
Both have microSD card slots so one could buy a memory card to make up for the 8gb of memory the Onda so dearly misses.
Last thought, the Apple iPad 2 should be wetting its pants now. Both of these tablets are more powerful and have just as responsive capacitive screens. Not to mention extra goodies like dual cameras and open source Ice Cream Sandwich. Yum!

Should I buy samsung galaxy player 5.0 or ipod touch 4g 8gb?
Q. Which one is better ?
What has better graphics?
Which has fun games?
How much ram cpu gpu etc.....
And also if i were to buy the samsung galaxy player should i get the 5.0 or 4.0?
Thanks so much!
A. The iPod Touch has better graphics but a smaller screen. If you are looking forward to games from the Android Market or iTunes, they are both great sources of applications which are always being made better and better.
Good Features From Galaxy Player:
The Galaxy Player has a built in radio receiver that extends into your headset (and only with your headset). The Galaxy player has GPS feature that you can use anytime away from wi-fi zones unless you are routing directions to a certain place. The Youtube application. The 3.2 megapixel back facing camera. Support of most video types so you can put almost any video on it and it will be able to read it. Surround sound simulator for videos. Stereo speakers on the back. The microphone is great for video calling. It's a little more durable than the iPod Touch. Android Market. Syncing software. Operating System: Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Bluetooth (easy to connect to other devices). Long lasting battery power.
Bad Features From Galaxy Player:
The resolution display isn't the best (compared to the iPod Touch). You cant record with the front facing camera. If you are a person who really likes quality, the rear facing camera's video recording isn't in HD.
Good Features From iPod Touch: iTunes Market. Application speed (the processing speed). The retina display. The camera is OK. Organization of Applications. Operating System. Bluetooth (a little more challenging than the Galaxy Player). Multitasking interface.
Bad Features From iPod Touch: Poor microphone quality. Poor quality cameras.
Overall, I would choose the Galaxy Player because of how many more great features it has. If you are going to get a Galaxy Player, its up to you which size screen you get. If you want something that looks like it has a better resolution, you should go with the 4.0. But if you are a person who wants to look at things bigger and be able to navigate throughout the player better, you should go with the 5.0 screen.
Help with Samsung Android MP3 Player?
Q. I want the samsung galaxy player 4.0, but there seems to be so many other ones by samsung just like it and they all have very confising names with letters and numbers and different sizes and I can't tell which one to get or where to get it or which on is the cheapest, also, any android mp3 player suggestions? Capacitive touchscreen, 2.3(froyo) or above, front and back camera, sd card slot, wifi, bluetooth, 8gb or more built in. Thanks please help!:)
A. Samsung is marketing this product as the "Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 and 5.0" in some European, UK, and Asian markets but as the "Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0" in others. In the US, Samsung aborted the launch of a "Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0" in May 2011 after both bestbuy.com and even amazon.com briefly had these products posted as "coming soon" with a price of $239 for the 4.0 model and $269 for the 5.0. The YP-G* model numbers below tend to be more stable than the product names:
Galaxy Player 50 (YP-G50) (NOTE: This is an older model with a < 4" screen)
Galaxy Player 4.0/Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 (YP-G1) (4" screen)
Galaxy Player 5.0/Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 (YP-G70) (5" screen. Also has camera flash)
The following UK sites are a good reference for product specs and you can even download the user manuals if you click on the "support" tab on the upper half of the page:
4" model:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/mp3-digital-audio/mobile-internet-players/YP-G1CW/XEU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
5" model with camera flash:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/mp3-digital-audio/mobile-internet-players/YP-G70CW/XEU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
It's hard to find, but this samsung.com/us page has a PDF user manual for the 4" model:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/YP-G1CW/XAA
Also on samsung.com/us is this site with an add for the Galaxy Player at the top of the page, but I'm not sure whether this page is fully supported:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mp3-players/
Samsung is being sued by Apple http://sammyhub.com/2011/07/06/apple-files-us-itc-complaint-against-samsung/ , so this may be contributing to the US product launch delay. The problem for consumers is that Samsung is not good about communicating with customers regarding product launch details. If this were Apple, Steve Jobs would have been grooming the press releases with a showman's flare, but Samsung does not have an iconic figure to hawk its wares.
Bottom line, the 4" and 5" models' hardware combination (stereo speakers, GPS, phone friendly ear speaker for VOIP apps, much better back camera, vibration feedback for gaming and silent alarms, expandable memory, self-replaceable battery, etc.) trounces the iPod Touch 4th Generation (although the iPod's screen resolution is higher). Sadly, the US market must simply wait for Samsung to get its marketing act together and let us know what is going on with this exciting new line of Android-based personal media players.
