Q. ok my mom doesn't have hdmi or anything high tech just a regular t.v with red white and yellow ports in the back. i have a galaxy s 3. i know i would most likely have to get a couple different cords and convert them together. i just want to know if it can be done and what cords and converters to look for... thanks!
yes i have the audio jack hook up but that only does audio not video.
A. You are correct that the headphone adapter only handles audio. Do you also have this?:

or Samsung's version

here's a video showing a similar device in use:

This is a mini-USB to HDMI adapter designed for the Galaxy3. But your mom's TV doesn't have HDMI Input. Being an older analog TV it needs more than a MHL (Mobile High-definition Link) to HDMI connector. And a simple (passive) adapter won't work. You need an active Converter like this:
http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Universal-Composite-S-Video-Converter/dp/B00AQ4HF7G/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1364934846&sr=1-2&keywords=ViewHD+Universal+HDMI+to+Composite+%2F+AV+Video+Converter
There are other examples of each - just search [hdmi to composite a/v converter] for example to see others. These converters have their own power supply and electronics inside to convert the digital HDMI signal to analog audio and video. You will not get High Def however- analog composite cables and TVs are not capable of HD. Hope this helps...
Can I play my tablet over the TV?
Q. I have a samsung galaxy tab, is there any why I can hook this up to my TV to stream movies?
A. Hi Wade, LG WRman Greg here,
It really depends on the model of the TV and the compatibility between the TV and tablet. If you own an LG 3D TV (LM-series), there's the WiDi function which will let you connect the tablet with the TV wirelessly. The new lineup for 2013 will also have a built-in mirror card that can let you connect your tablets and smartphones directly to the TV. However, if this is not the case, then you would need either a microHDMI to HDMI or a HDMI cable, and perhaps an adapter to connect the tablet to the HDMI cable that leads to your TV in order to mirror the tablet's screen.

In dash dvd players with mini HDMI hookups?
Q. I was wondering if I got a in dash dvd player that had a usb port could I hookup my Samsung Galaxy S3 via a usb to mini hdmi, if it would display video on the receiver. Or if I got one with a Ipod hookup and got the 5 pin adapter for it if that would work as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this and if you know of any that would work please let me know the brand and name. Thank you!
A. I have a Droid 4, with a mini hdmi out.. You can use the mini hdmi out, to rca Y with red white and yellow ( the yellow is the video ) and use the video input in the rear. I've been wondering if my hdmi out could put the Nav from my phone on the screen, with audio, as to not have to buy a gps deck..
I was going to try a Dual monitor for 2 reasons, their cheap, and easy to video by-pass, for the gps, but i haven't gotten around to trying one.. There are no shops within like 50 miles for me to try it, before I buy one..
Lmk if you either buy one, or have a shop near you to try it, if it works.
( That's how I would do it, idk if the usb port supports video input, I know they do audio in..)
Good Luck!
