Q. My Samsung galaxy S 4g's battery needs to be replaced. Since the Vibrant is practically the same, will the battery work on my Samsung galaxy?

How long should I charge my phone battery on its first charge?
Q. just got my Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch (thats a mouthful) from Amazon (new) and I heard that you are supposed to let it charge for like 7-8 hours or 8-10 hours on its first charge. The manual just says charge until its well, charged. But I heard you are supposed to let is charge past that before running the phone. Its a Li-Ion battery just for your info. I have it off an charging atm haha
A. Hi.As someone else said just charge it until it says finished or completely charged. That is what I normally do with a new cell phone too on first use
how much wattage should a solar panel be to keep a android phone charged using gps?
Q. this may not be possible on many days, but I will be using a samsung galaxy s 4g as a GPS device. It needs to run fairly continuous for 10 hours per day. I will only be riding on sunny days. I'm thinking of getting a 10-12 watt panel because any higher and its getting too big to fit properly on my bike. would this be enough or will I still be stopping to do ac charges a lot?
A. (Disclaimer, all these numbers involve a fair level of hand waving and vagueness)
The battery in a Galaxy S is about 5 Watt hours.
That is enough to run the GPS and screen constantly for about 3 hours with the screen at low brightness.
So you need a constant power output of about 1.6W to run things.
Since you'll be feeding into the 5V charger input there will be an efficiency hit so call it 2W.
So 10W would certainly be enough power if it can actually output 10W at 5V, in practice the power output is going to be a lot less most of the time. Probably in the 1-2W region.
In other words, it looks like it is close enough that it's hard to give a definite answer without testing it and actually measuring things.
My gut call is that it won't be enough power if you want to keep the screen on all the time, since you'll be outside you'll need to crank the brightness up close to max and that burns more power. If you are OK with the screen being off some of the time then it should be enough.
