Q. The instruments at my school are really old and bad, and it is really only to be expected that with little pride in the music department, the bows would be mistreated. All the bows I find are cracked at the frog or are tightened to the point of no return, so here is my question;
How can I repair a cracked frog.
How can I loosen an extremely tightened bow?
A. Kindling for the bon fire. (but remove the horse hair, that stuff stinks.)
Unless the bows are of some sort of exceptional quality they are waste. A cracked frog cannot be repaired as far as I know. If the frog is so tight that it cannot be loosened the threads on the screw are probably shot.
I suppose that on the ones where the stick has cracks, you can loosen the frog completely, remove all the tension from the stick and somehow work some wood glue into the splits, but it won't be a lasting repair.
Somehow the kids need to take some pride in their instruments (but what do I know, my daughter broke two bows in a year, and one was fiberglass)
Having parents pony up money for bows at the beginning of the year might help a bit, but that still doesn't make it the student's responsibility.
... only thing I can think of is having the kids file by after class one-by-one and show you the bows with the tension released.
Is there anyway to fixed a broken kindle screen?
Q. The kindle isnt mine, its my friends and im afraid to tell her because im afraid she will get mad. She lent it to me for a while to read a book and i put it in my backpack and i guess something hit it and cracked the screen.. Is there anyway to repair it without getting a new one and losing all the books she had on it? I really need help..
A. First contact Amazon and tell them the situation. They will probably tell you to buy a new one and transfer the registration and the old Kindle's data onto the new one.
If you are a good friends tell her what happened anyway and she will understand. Sure she maybe angry for a while, but if you make efforts to recover her lost then she will forgive you. Material things don't last forever but friendships can if you take care of one another.
Should I buy the regular kindle paperwhite or the 3g one?
Q. Which one should I get? The regular one is $119 and the 3g one is $179. I don't really know the differences between the two.
A. Computers, netbooks, phones, tablets and many other items are always being reviewed in Consumer Reports
magazine. Go to your Public Library or look on line and look at the last
few issues, there are several out there to pick from.
You have to get familiar with specs to be able to judge. It is best if you have not used the product or item go to the local electronic store and try it out and see if you like it...
Sony, Lenovo, Samsung and Toshiba there is little or not way to say one is better than the others it is more important to get the one that fits your needs. (I am a tech with
several years of repairing all brands.)
