Original Question

Best AT&T Android phone?
Q. I'm getting a new phone in a couple of weeks and I want a high end Android phone (iPhone is a slight possibility). I am a heavy web user, a text a decent amount, and I'll play games if they're good (minecraft ftmw).
Musts are good battery life, large internal memory, CPU, display and software support (meaning it should be upgradable to android 4.0 and maybe 5.0).
Wants are white color (I'm gonna get a custom skin/case anyways so no big deal) and ability to remove AT&T shitware.
Here are my choices.
HTC Vivid: It looks cool, has a decent camera and it's actually affordable. The only problems are the CPU isn't THAT great (HTCs+Snapdragons=Not too good) and the battery life is shit (typical of HTC phones, although it may not be a big deal)
Samsung Galaxy S II (both versions). Both are good (i prefer the regular version because of the exnyos cpu but the skyrocket is in white and has LTE) but Samsung sometimes doesn't update their phones (Samsung Galaxy S variants) and they're kind of cheap looking. The displays are cool also.
Motorola Atrix 2. I LOVE motorolas since they have great build quality and hardware but i feel that it won't get updated. Still this is a great phone and GREAT PRICE.
LG Nitro: Probably not, but I do like the HD display but LG's track record with their updates isn't good despite being the first company with dual core phones and 3d phones.
Any others would be nice.

A. Galaxy S2 phone is $599.00 awesome. As far as appearance goes, it's *thin.* Like, 8.49 mm thin. Much thinner than the iPhone 3G that I owned previously. Although it's thin, the curved sides allow for easy gripping. The casing itself is plastic, so it feels cheaper than other all-aluminum phones, but its absolute thinness prevents if from feeling cheap. It's a classy phone.

Original Question

I want an archos 48 and have two questions first.?
Q. I have read a lot of bad reviews but the main reason I want one is to use as an mp3 player. I have a LOT of music and nothing else has the space but I want to know if it does function as an mp3 player as its supposed to and what the controls are like for it. I would be using it when I'm busy and can't be playing with the buttons and it would really need to be in a case. As long as I can put it in something and still access the skip control it will work. If it can work with an inline earbud control that would work too.

Thanks for the answers.
Thank you for the info I now know it doesn't have buttons but the headphone controls are still a question and any knowledge on how long it takes to charge with a usb wall adapter would be very helpful.
I would rate the awesome answer but it won't let me.

A. Here are the instructions for the Archos 48 --
http://www.archos.com/support/download/manuals/English_-_User_Manual_-_ARCHOS_48_IT.pdf

The prices seem to have been lowered quite considerably.

You might want to consider one of the following, but neither have the 500GB hard drive included in the Archos 48 --

Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 (8GB) -- $229.99
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mp3-players/YP-G1CWY/XAA

or Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 (8GB)-- $269.99
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mp3-players/YP-G70CWY/XAA

Instruction manual --

You can add up to a 32GB microSD Card to either of these products. Perhaps buy multiple microSD cards?

Hopefully someone else has other options.
