Q. I am going to get the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. Just a couple of questions:
1) Can I get Service ANYWHERE without connecting to wifi (like 3g)?
2) Can I delete apps that come with the device?
Best answer...10 pts :)
A. The Galaxy Player is very specifically *not* a cell phone. You cannot use a cell phone data plan (3g, LTE, etc.) to connect to the internet. Connection to the internet can only be accomplished via wifi.
You can, however, use certain cell phones as wifi hotspots. That means you could use a cell phone to temporarily provide wifi and then connect the Player to that wifi.
If you need cell phone data connection directly from the Samsung then bypass the Galaxy "Player" and instead get one of the Samsung Galaxy phones that the "Player" is based off of (but then you'll also have to get a phone plan for it).
As for apps, you can freely delete any app not marked as a "system" app. For "system" apps you'll have to "root" the device and then use an app like Titanium Backup Pro to either put system apps to "sleep" (not run) or actually delete them. Titanium is a great app for this because you can make a backup of your apps before you remove them (in case you need to re-install them later).
Good luck!
Do you think Samsung Galaxy S2 will get the upcoming android version(5.0 or w/e it will be)?
Q. Its getting ice cream sandwich,I know that. But do you think it will get anymore updates after that ?
A. Most probably it will get the upgrade simply because it is samsung's "most wanted phone" around and it's hardware too is pretty much better than any other model currently in their line up. Maybe the newer s2's like the skyrocket hd will only get the upgrade and not the "older" s2's. It's hard to tell though, simply because android upgrades are so unpredictable, like the hardware may be compatible but the manufacturer doesn't give the update like in the case of the sony xperia x10 or the hardware becomes old as it always does. I heard that the ICS is to be given only to dual core phones or something like that, so maybe the android 5 will only be for quad core phones......So only time will tell.
