samsung fascinate opinion?

Q. Hi guys. I have an update coming up in a few days. I want to get a Samsung fascinate but I see mixed reviews. I know it's two years old, but I really like the model (the way it looks), more so than the droid smartphones. Does anyone have that phone? Any problems with it? Thanks.

A. If you don't need the top of the line specs like a dual core processor or 4G, then it's still a solid smartphone. It's still great for surfing the internet, texting, phone calls, and apps... it just won't be the top dog in multitasking and video games.

Personally, those are things I can sacrifice in terms of a good looking phone. I feel the same way about the Samsung Captivate on the AT&T. The Samsung Galaxy S phones are gorgeous.

The only problem you should have is when the major updates like Android OS upgrades come to play. You can probably handle the next major upgrade just fine, but later on they will start to lag your phone. And the cons of Samsung phones (in this case perk for you) is that the major upgrades are always delayed, so your Samsung Fascinate should satisfy you until your next smartphone upgrade. You can google the whole Samsung Galaxy and delayed Android Froyo debacle.

The next Samsung phone will be the Nexus Prime (which will be the king of Androids because of its first dibs on Android upgrades and top of the line specs), but there isn't any pictures for how it will look yet and it isn't available until the end of next month. And sadly, the next line of premium Samsung Galaxy phones, the Samsung Galaxy S2 phones won't come to Verizon (They passed it up because they believe they have an already good arsenal of smartphones).

I would say go for it because if you get another phone that you don't really want, you'll end up regretting it and always playing the whole "what if I got the Samsung Fascinate" game. I did that with the T-Mobile G2, and I ended up buying the G2 later on off Ebay. I have been happy with it since then.

If you want a new Samsung Fascinate, Bestbuy still offers them (and for free too).

Verizon offers it for $39.99 but it comes refurbished (meaning someone else has used it before you).

You will love the Samsung Fascinate. I'm still using a G2 which is around the same age as your Samsung Fascinate, and it performs great. Enjoy your new smartphone!

Original Question

I have some phone questions please answer :)?
Q. So I have a samsung reality and am thinking about updating to the samsung fascinate
do you think it is a good chouce
also the fascinate is the only phone I will change to
so do you think i should switch or keep my reality

A. The Reality is a feature phone. It has done some things good, but when compared to the Fascinate, it is a little more than a basic phone. The Fascinate is an Android based smart phone of the custom Galaxy S line of phones tailored to particular carriers. I have been using smart phones for years, and do not see me ever wishing to have a basic or feature phone again. However, there are some things to note.

1. Being Android, you may want to have or create a Gmail account. Put all of your current contacts in the service before hand.
2. Set up all of your calendar entries in Google Calendar.
3. Consider Google Voice.
4. Be prepared to have plastic for Google Checkout in case you want anything from the Market.
5. Get insurance on the phone.
6. A data plan is required
7. Data and voice doesn't work simultaneously. Data pauses when on a call.

Once you get the Fascinate, login with the Gmail account. Your Gmail, Contacts, and Calendar will download to your phone. This will be much easier than entering manually.

A. Amazon has TONS of cases and most of them are inexpensive. Just go to the site & search samsung fascinate cases. There are some sites if you search google but you have to be careful! I was about to order a case, googled the site, and found out it was a scam. good luck!
