Q. I'm getting a tablet of some sort for Christmas I just don't know what kind yet. I picked between ipad 2 or 3, google nexus, and Samsung galaxy tab. I'm only 13 and I use my iPod alot! Tell me which one will run faster and hold better battery and for games an Internet and stuff. just tell me which one is better and why.
A. I would strongly recommend the Nexus 10 which is coming out November 13, 2012 (but I would wait a month for any issues to be worked out before I buy, I would recommend to wait on any device that just comes out).
My second choice would be the Nexus 7, since this device has been around since the end of June, there would be no need to wait.
Here are reasons why..

The Nexus 10 with it's Exynos 5250 has proven to be faster browsing the internet, 2x or faster than the A6 (A6x is an A6 with better Graphics capability), has higher resolution even than the IPad 4 (which is Apples top product), Nexus 10 is $100 less than the cheapest IPad 4, with higher MP cameras than the IPad 4. The nexus 10 also has good quality stereo speakers on the front of the tablet vs the IPad 4 mono speaker on the side. There are more free apps on Google Play store (Andriod Market Place), although there are sill more paid apps in the Apple Store, Google is catching up here too. Overall apps, the Google Play Store had 675,000 apps vs 700,000 in Apple store but if you look at trend, Google has been increasing at a faster rate and been catching up here too. Out of the 700,000 apps in the Apple Store only 275,000 are available for the IPad, whereas a much higher percentage of apps in the Google play store are compatible with the Andriod Tablets like Nexus 10 or Nexus 7. You will hear some people argue "not all apps are optimized for tablets" in Google Play, but I see this as a positive, it is much better to be able to "run" an app that was meant for a phone (and will later get updated to be optimized for the tablet) than not be able to "run" that app at all.
On top of that the Andriod 4.2 OS on Nexus 10 allows for multiple users vs only one user on IPad.
IPad Mini

So for $199 on Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD 7 (compared to IPad Mini) you get (double the speed for Nexus 7, 1.5 times the speed for Kindle Fire HD 7), double the RAM memory on both, NFC (Near Field Communication) on Nexus 7. Nearly as many apps on Nexus 7 (Android Market has been catching up and will eventually have more apps, it already has more FREE apps). All for $130 less. Also note, the IPad mini is basically the outdated IPad 2 crammed into a smaller case with IOS 6 instead of IOS 5.
So Nexus 10, Nexus 7 wins on Price Point, Speed.(even the Amazon Kindle Fire HD has a better price point and speed). The trend of Apps are in favor of Andriod, and there are actually more compatible apps in the Google Play Store for Andriod Tablets than there are in the Apple Store for the IPad.
Tablet or Laptop for College?
Q. I am a Freshman and I am just wondering what others recommend. I am currently waiting on my KEES money to come in this week but that's not important. I already have a laptop that I got two years ago but it needs a battery so I guess that's an option. I also like the thought of buying a new laptop specifically for college.
I want to know if an iPad is a good idea? Has anyone actually used one and if you have do you recommend any note taking apps? Or is there another tablet that would be good?
If you recommend a new computer (I currently have a Compaq Presario CQ56) what do you think I should get? The HP Envy looks like a good one but I've never used one.

A. If you have a laptop and the battery is the only problem, just carry around your charger.
For tablets, get either an ASUS transformer or a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. ASUS transformer has a detachable keyboard (that holds extra battery power) that can make the tablet look like a net book. It's a good. I have been using mine for a year and a half now and they are now on the third generation. I bought a third party stylus to use with an app for handwritten notes. The great thing about the transformer (and the note) is that is comes with Polaris Office which allows you edit and create word documents (.doc), powerpoint (.ppt), and or excel (.xls). And the transformer has gorilla glass so it is impossible to scratch that screen. I just toss my tablet in a bag or anywhere and not one single scratch on the screen (the body has some scruffs on the paint though). No case either. For the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, it has all these handy things for doing notes and editing photos and cropping and anything you could ever want to do with a stylus. I am looking into getting one soon. Previous Samsung Tablets also could have the option for a keyboard so I imagine that they will make one for the note too.
iPads are good for battery life but personally I don't like iTunes, the iPad screen is too fragile, Apple limits things such as adobe flash, and Apple is too controlling over their products. iPad has the name but I would definately say that there are better tablets out there especially for school.
Besides a bigger screen, What makes a Archos 101 a better purchase than one of the New Android Phones?
Q. At first i told my Girlfriend i wanted a Samsung Vibrant for christmas. Then i came across the Archos 101 and would much rather have that. But she says the Archos pretty much seems like a big android phone that you cant make calls from(She's Not into Technology as much as I am, lol). But i couldnt come up with anything to defend the Archos against her statement. Please Help me come up with 10 reason why the Archos is The way to Go..
A. Well, honestly, I'm not sure I can. OK, I have an HTC EVO 4G (Android phone) and an Archos 70 Internet Tablet 8 GB. I also plan on getting an A101 (the 10.1 inch you're discussing).
There are clear advantages to getting an Android phone because of how Google treats Android tablets. Presently, the only Android tablet Google certifies is the Samsung Galaxy. Google certification is necessary to obtain the cool Google Android applications and access to the Android Marketplace by Google. If the device doesn't meet the standards laid out by Google then the manufacturer can't offer them.
In the case of the Archos line (A70 and A101), Google did not certify them. I'm not sure but I know these tablets do not come with a GPS chip built into them. You can get location information using the Wifi network as well as though an external GPS unit connected via Bluetooth.
So, is it possible for someone to get the Google applications onto the Archos tablets? Yes, you can. Two people on the site ArchosFans.com (http://forum.archosfans.com) successfully created the necessary package to install the Marketplace, as well as, GMail, Navigator, Maps, Voice, etc.
It isn't exactly simple to install the package, I did it today and it took me 35 steps (I wrote them down as part of a blog). Additionally some applications still don't show up in the Marketplace, such as Splash ID, BatteryView, Battery Watch, and Monster Apps Pro. Yet, the vast majority (10s of thousands of them are there).
Please don't get me wrong, the A70 (and I assume the A101) is a great device. Since getting my A70 I barely touch my HTC EVO 4G. I really love the A70 and am sure the A101 will be even better. The support cost to you will be heavy, though.
The HTC EVO is not without its own problems. The battery on the EVO is complete crap. I have two internal batteries and an external battery and typically have to use all 3 each day, when I'm away from home.
You can use the Archos tables as you would a PC, by connecting a monitor (via HDMI), keyboard (Bluetooth, USB, or WIFI), mouse (Bluetooth or USB), external hard drives (1 TB, 2 TB, basically any size), printer, flash drive, USB hub, etc. The sales documentation Archos has on their website goes into even more details on doing this for / to your tablet.
From what I can tell the Archos tablet battery is a real champ and lasts for hours.
While you have to buy some plug-ins from Archos it has video abilities and networking not seen on other Android devices. It really is an Entertainment device. If you're wanting it for music and videos, it really is a HOT device!!!!!
