Q. I currently have an old crappy phone (LG Optimus) and want to upgrade soon. Virgin Mobile currently has the Samsung Galaxy s2 for $200, and it would be a huge upgrade from my current phone. However, Virgin Mobile will be getting the Galaxy s3 very soon and it will cost about $400.
My question is, do you think in terms of "bang for your buck" is the S3 worth twice as much? From what I've heard there aren't any huge differences or advancements from the S2 to the S3.
So, which phone do you think I should get? I don't plan on getting another phone for a while after this next purchase, It's a lot of money and a fairly permanent decision.
A. Yeah, for sure its worth buying a Samsung Galaxy S3 , rather than buying the slower n lesser functioned S2. Let me tell u some major Pros of having a Galaxy S3 instead:
- The Exynos 4212 , 1.4 GHz Quad-Core processor enhances the system functioning speed to its best
- The internal n external both storage capacities i.e 16GB, 1GB RAM (internal) & upto 64GB expandable (external) are far more than the storage limitations of S2
- Comparatively better screen resolution
- Running over the 4.0 version of Android
Hope this may help u in taking the decision as a bit of more bucks spent may relieve you for a long time though:)
How do you get the Ice Cream Sandwich update?
Q. I have Sprint's Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch, which is apparently going to be eligible for the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) update sometime during the beginning of 2012. I've never had a smartphone before, so I don't know how this updating works. Will I get some type of notification on my phone, or will I have to manually update something when it becomes available? And is this update free? Thanks!
A. I'm in the same boat. Most likely it would be an OTA (over the air) update that would just show up one day as a prompt on your phone, asking if you would like to apply the update. Not unlike the firmware update that was released earlier this month to fix a couple issues. Just be careful though. Applying updates can brick (kill) the phone so it's best to backup your important contacts (sync to gmail) and other files from the phone (pics, vids, etc.) before applying any update. I read something that suggested that we should get Ice Cream Sandwich in the first half of 2012, but don't hold your breath...Sprint and Samsung are notoriously slow at releasing updates for their phones. In fact Samsung recently announced that they won't be releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for the Samsung Galaxy S, at all, which angered many who have that phone. But Samsung claimed that was based on hardware shortcomings of that phone, but the SII has much more robust hardware so it should come eventually, I hope.
Is the samsung galaxy S3 a good phone?
Q. I was wondering a couple things about the Samsung Galaxy S3 since I have never used one.
1)Can you use the radio without having any wifi connection?
2)I heard it heats up since its thin, does this get really bad?
3)Does it lag easily, especially on the internet?
4)How does it take before it runs out of battery?
A. Yes it is a good Phone. Yes you can use radio without wifi connection. There is no issue like heating up. Any phone will lag easily on using internet continuously for long time. Best part : Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with Android 4.0 (ICS) that is up gradable to Jelly Bean. Below is the direct link to it. You can visit the link for more details.
I hope this would help.
