How to fix screen problems with Kindle?

Q. I have the basic Kindle e reader with wifi. A while ago I noticed some weird problems with the screen. There's a pure white patch and a lot of lines, both white black and grey, and then what looks like the remains of a frozen image. My kindles warranty is up so I went ahead and opened it, and everything looks fine. So I reset it and the problem remained even through the reset process. Has anyone else had this problem before? Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.

A. Look at the troubleshooting on the Kindle, and see if any of those suggestions can help:

I think you have already done what you should do, however. So try to contact Amazon to see if they can offer any help. If they can't, then you need to either read the Kindle books on your computer using the Kindle app (but that's no good for eyes), or to get a new Kindle.

Do BestBuy prices go down for New Years?
Q. I am using my kindle warranty to trade it for an ipad mini. But I don't want to pay a lot for the difference. I also need to buy another warranty for the ipad.

A. Regarding the iPad mini good luck finding a sale on it anywhere. It is a hot device and apple is pretty good at controlling their prices anyway.

Likely no benefit to waiting.

P.S.: 'can't think of any reasons to shop at Best Buy other than you have no choice.

How does the Kindle extended warranty work?
Q. My kindle is not working properly... but its still functional just really slow and freezes a lot. I am looking to replace it with my extended warranty but I would like to know the process what will happen to my current kindle since I have so much on it. Do I need to send them my kindle? Does my kindle deactivate? Please educate me :D
It is the 2 year extended warranty from Service Net

A. It really depends on which warranty you purchased since they are sold by more then one servicing company.
You can browse the different warranties here and look up the details for each on the description:

Typically you have to ship the unit back to them, and they send you a replacement I think.
