A. I live in Asia. I see knockoffs of everything. Most eBay businesses of that sort are scams. They count on getting a positive feedback before you discover that you bought crap.
Most web sites advertising low cost items are also frauds or phishing sites. If you do not know how to look up who owns the site and how long they have been in business then do not bother. Hint: you cannot get said information from the site itself.
The phone will work in the USA, but will most likely not meet US standards. You will likely experience a lot of dropped calls. AT&T and T-Mobil may not let you activate it for that reason. It may not even be legal to import it. The phone is a knockoff of the Samsung Galaxy Note S Duos (S7562). AT&T does not offer that model.
The seller is taking advantage of the fact that most Americans do not know that locked phones are rare outside America. He is trying to make you think that his phone is something special because it is unlocked. In most countries locked phones are illegal. Most of the world has never encountered a locked phone unless they visited America, or parts of Europe. In other words unlocked phones are nothing special.
Additionally he is making a big deal out of the fact that his phone is dual SIM. Again uncommon in the America. All dual SIM phones are unlocked. I own three dual SIM phones. They are common in places other than America. Even my now almost antique Nokia (not a smart phone) is dual SIM. Again nothing is special.
Lastly the product he is offering is really a Goophone. They offer low quality knockoffs under various names. Goophone is popular in third world countries. They make all the fake iPhones.
Phone recommendations???
Q. I'm looking for a cheap unlock smart phone with gps capability. I'm not a big phone guy but the phone I have now belongs in a museum. Anything will an upgrade...any suggestions
A. I recommend gettting a samsung galaxy ace since it's quite cheap and works fine. If you don't like that one you could go for a samsung galaxy s duos which works incredibly well. I personally have a samsung galaxy s duos but it's not as cheap as a sg ace.
