A. AT&T has blocked the 'sideloading' of apps.. ie apps not from the market.
You can get around that by using a windows program to sideload apps onto your phone through usb, no need to root your phone using this method.
Does going from a Galaxy Captivate to an iPhone 3G cost more in service?
