Q. I have a travel adaptor, but, it doesn't convert voltage to 110V. Can the Kindle charge with a 220 Volt source? My kindle is 1st generation.
A. On my third Kindle in Vietnam and own a book store in Hoi an. Plug your kindle right into the wall socket. It has a built in adapter and will work perfectly. Do not worry. You will not fry the machine. If you are the paranoid type you can always charge it through the computer but the plug is safe and simple. The Kindle is perfect for traveling and I have found that in most Asian countrys they will not even bother to steal it. I do not know if this is because they do not know what it is or that they know that it will not work if stolen. All you have to do is email Amazon and they will lock up the machine from their end. and no one can down load anything from Amazon again with that machine.
Plug it in. its ok!
Also... computer down loads from kindle work simply and easily in Vietnam. That why I purchased them in the first place. Its nice to be able to get the third book of a trilogy in a couple of minutes. its hard to find cutting edge books in Vietnam.
What adapter can you use to connect a mac laptop and a kindle fire to an HDTV?
Q. I have the HDMI cable and I'm trying to figure out if I can get one adapter that can be used for both devices instead of having to get two separate ones. I don't want it to be very expensive either. Hope you can help!
A. If you have a 1st gen Kindle Fire, then you can't, as that model doesn't have any video input/output capabilities.
If you have a Kindle Fire HD, you need a microHDMI to HDMI adaptor. For your Macbook, you'll need a Mini Display Port to HDMI adaptor.

I have both devices and found the two separate devices work perfectly. Unfortunately, there's no combination adaptor out there.
Do I need a grounded or ungrounded adapter plug to use my Kindle in Australia?
Q. I've been told that I don't need a voltage transformer with the Kindle. Is this correct? The charging plug on the Kindle has two prongs. Can I use an ungrounded plug in Australia to charge the Kindle whilst there?
A. That depends on where you bought it from, as to whether you need a transformer for it. See if it has any specifications on it somewhere, then come back with more info and tell us.
But buy a grounded (three pin) one.
