Q. We bought one of the original Kindle Fires, ordering before they were available. We have had constant problems with the fitting between the Kindle Fire unit and the charger. The unit has been exchanged several times, and the last time it seemed to be a little more secure, but is now failing again. Has anyone had any luck with securing the fitting so that it is less wobbly, or replacing the charger? I love the Kindle Fire, as well as my Kindle e-reader, but if there is some solution to this problem, I would love it a lot more.
A. Honestly, your just getting Kindles that were assembled by a really BAD repair tech who needs to be fired. There is a little black spacer that goes under the USB port to hold it all together, if the spacer is not there, people will have problems plugging it in. Unfortunately, that spacer is missed a lot. I would recommend asking for another, but make sure that before they send it that it has a spacer there, because I guarantee you that your problem is not having that spacer there.
I would say you can buy one, but if you do, not only will it be hard to find, but your have to remove the back cover without breaking the tabs on the bezel, if you break the tabs, the back cover won't stay on all the way, and you'll have to then replace the whole LCD..... Then you'll need to unscrew the touch panel from the motherboard, unplug the motherboard, and place it under the USB, then put it all back together.... Easier to just call and make them assure that you'll get one with a spacer.
How to fix a water damaged Kindle?
Q. Is there any way to fix a water damaged Amazon Kindle? I was walking in the rain and it got wet even though it was in my bag.
A. There are third-party repair companies like Mission Repair (www.missionrepair.com) which can quote you a price after looking at the Kindle. You can also contact Amazon. While dropping a Kindle in water will void your warranty in a hurry, you may still be able to pay for a repair depending on the extent of the damage to the device.
How to remove scratch UNDER kindle screen?
Q. I have a kindle 3 3G and suddenly today a scratch appeared on the screen. Not above the screen as there is no scratch dent or anything, but below it, above the text but below the actual viewing screen. Is it possible to remove this? It's about 2 mm in diameter but is very irritating. Thanks in advance
A. You must have the digitizer replaced. Search for a person to repair it
