Q. the wont i have is just generic usb wall adapter i got years ago and it was "5.1-12 volts" so is that to much for my kindle 4? i once fried a MP3 player with a car charger being to powerful so i would like it if that doesn't happen again :) for now i charge it with my computer until i know the answer. i know they say the actual kindle wall adapter is 4.9 volts but would my 5.1-12 volt adapter to much?
A. Honestly i wouldn't risk it. It just isn't worth the possible savings when it could fry your kindle.
You can get a like new kindle OEM cable for just $12 shipped here:

Good luck!
Is it illegal to use a cassette adapter in a car?
Q. I use my ipod with the cassette adapter in my car and I just leave the ipod on shuffle while I'm driving. I was wondering, if a cop pulled you over and saw that you had the ipod plugged in, would they ticket you? Would that be considered using a hands-free device. I never touch my ipod while I'm driving, not even to change the song.
sorry, I didnt mean to say "hands free". I meant the use of an electronic device.
A. Think the law only apply to cell phones(state/county?).
You could be reading a Kindle and I think the 'hands free' law does not apply. But I'm sure they would find something else to write you up with if you are weaving on the road.
What does an Apex Braillenote do? Will it let me read the kindle books on my pc in braille?
Q. Looking for a way to read kindle books on my pc in Braille. Do either the Braillenote or Brailliant do this? Thanks!
A. The key to reading books on the PC with an Apex or other Braille display is that you are also running a compatible speech screen reader: JAWS, NVDA, WindowEyes as examples, which all have drivers to run Braille displays. Then you need to follow the instructions on the Kindle's accessible plug-in page, cited below. If you're already using the Apex as a Braille display with your PC, you'll know that it can either run as a USB device with its serial/USB adapter, or via bluetooth.
Alternatively of course, if you have an IPhone, you can pair the Apex with your IPhone, download the Kindle app for IOS and you have full accessibility with Braille, as well as portability.
Hope that helps.
