A. the charge port on all these phones is a flimsy little thing and you need to be very careful with it.
If the port has no obvious, visible damage (is it hanging out of the phone by a wire? Is it visibly bent in any way), then you might be able to get the phone replaced under warranty. But you will probably get a refurbished phone.
If you have insurance on the phone you could also probably get the phone replaced that way, but the insurance company will probably charge you a stupidly high price for the replacement (in addition to all the premiums you've been giving them all along of course), and they will most likely also give you a refurbished replacement. And they may switch you to another model. Possibly a really, really, crappy other model.
The only other option is most like to get the phone repaired by somebody who knows to repair stuff like this. You probably have some kind of electronics repair service in your town, if you look.
Rooting android concerns?
Q. I apologize now for the long question.
I've been spending my weekend researching something I've wanted to do for a long time: rooting my Samsung Galaxy Proclaim. And while I've searched so many sites about how to do it (reading one site with step by step instructions, then reading another to confirm if the instructions are still what they claim to work), I've read comments from other people about it as well. I'm concerned about the problems I've seen listed, such as:
"md5 hash value is incorrect"
"Battery no longer charges/incompatible battery"
"Phone not recognized in USB mode"
"Randomly restarts itself/can't unroot/specific apps now freeze and crash"
I guess my question is... are these issues perhaps being done by people who didn't do the proper research on rooting, or followed the steps wrong? Or is it actually this easy to mess up your phone? I keep hearing the galaxy proclaim is a b*tch to root. Even so, I want to know everything about it before attempting, I would love to be able to do what I want with my phone (like remapping my search button as an unlock button, allowing a wiimote to connect, tethering, deleting bloat, etc). Also, how is superoneclick? is it less safe than the extract Odin launch program put in download mode redo steps 1-3 to enable data service blah blah blah? Any experience you've had with rooting, please tell me. I'm trying to learn all I can about how to do it, and also how to fix the problems that may arise.
Miss Malynn- well OBVIOUSLY it'll get messed up if I dont follow instructions, duh. That's not what I asked. I asked even WHEN FOLLOWING instructions, CAN sh*t still happen where the phone gets errors, or does that happen ONLY when the noob isn't following instructions properly.
P.S. I said I have a galaxy proclaim. That's Straight Talk. I can't exactly walk into a store like verizon users can to Verizon stores and play dumb like "I don't know why it's doing this." The only store they have is Walmart, and they won't do anything. The only 'insurance' I have is a year (still available) to send it to the factory, where if they replaced it if somehow the phone was permanently f*cked (doubt it'd be THAT bad though), they'd probably send me another f*cked up phone because that's how Straight Talk is.
A. Yes, without following instructions VERY carefully, you can ruin your phone.
That fancy piece of technology becomes nothing more than a paperweight.
Make sure you have insurance on it, smash it and make a claim in case anything goes wrong!
is there an otterbox for the samsung galaxy proclaime?
Q.
A. No. Here is another case though:

(and it is only 55 cents)
