Q. I've decided to get a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition for Christmas. I'm using it to help out with school work. I think in some ways it would be better than having to spend a lot on a laptop. Are there any programs out there on the play store that can act as something like Microsoft word? Are there any programs I would be able to type essay's on?
A. Well urs is smart choice, as I'm also looking forward towards it. I guess our requirements match here as I'm considering 10.1 2014 edition for educational purpose as stylus seems very convenient to take down notes in live lecture/rec lecture/ppt/pdf which can be run side by side under multi window facility. Polaris Office is a free built-in app provided by Samsung which fulfills function of MS Office, here our .doc/.docx/.ppt/.xls files can be read/write. If you are not well satisfied with Polaris Office then you can purchase similar productivity apps. Coming to typing matter you have various options like directly writing your essays in S.Note app if you are comfortable with stylus then note's hand writing recog software detects your every spelling and converts it into word file. Or you can you use on screen typing keyboard of various comfortable layout also you can buy typing software like SwiftKey keyboard. Or you can connect wireless bluetooth keyboard which can be used with laptop & tab also. Or you can use voice command to dictate out your essay. So suit yourself. All d best & have productive outcome of your investment as this tab is pretty costly itself but will surely last couple of years updates...
What tablet would be best for a senior citizen?
Q. My grandfather is very persistent about wanting to get a tablet because I have one. Right now I am touring this on my Samsung Galaxy note 10.1. He recently bought a very expensive computer targeted at seniors, and basically ripping then off. He finally got his money back, now he wants a tablet. Which should I help him look at? An android, or a windows tablet? I think the Samsung with the removable keyboard, or stylus would be easy, but the big and easy to see tiles in the windows are also good as well. Which type would be best?
P.S. he said he doesn't want an iPad because he doesn't b like apple.
A. i would get a windows tablet it has a detachable keyboard he can use, it works almost exactly like the windows pcs, and it has easy to use interface with most of the popular apps.
Should i Get An iPhone 5 or a Samsung Galaxy S4?
Q. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and dont know if the galaxy S4 is similar... ive been a samsung for everything but
The iPhone has caught my eye should i try it out? :/
Ps: Idont work, im a student!
A. Personally, I have both the Galaxy S4, iPod Touch & the iPhone 5. I have one for work, one for personal business. Here is why I like my S4 and then why I like my iPhone 5.
Here is what I think the Galaxy S4 Does better:
- Larger Screen (5" Screen)
- More Features (Multi-Window is my favorite that iPhone does not have, see sources below)
- Interchangeable Battery (I use the incredicell 5200mah extended battery, I get 3 days worth of battery)
- I think the text to speech works better
Here is what I think the iPhone 5 does better:
- More responsive screen (onscreen keyboard is more accurate and responsive)
- Easier to hold in hand, not so large.
- Always works, never freezes up or slows down... No matter how many apps you have open
- Works a lot better if you have any other iOS device such as iPods, iPads, iMacs etc.
- Easier to add Music & listen to music
These are just a few main points that I see.
Personally, I use the S4 when I have to.. I would pick my iPhone 5 over the S4 any day of the week.
Good Luck.
