A. If you take bad pictures with the iPhone and the same with cheap cameras then it won't be different with a dSLR. Why? Picture quality depends on the photographer's skill. The camera is only a tool.

A. Yes, it's very much possible. As you know, one of the reasons why people buy the camera connection kit is to be able to transfer photos from their digital camera to their iPad. And, as you rightly said, you can do the same with your iPhone 4, which is similar to what you can do with an iPod Touch 4G as well.
Just remember that, with a camera connection kit, you can only connect one device at a time. I personally use it to connect to my external hard drive and, sometimes, the TV.
