Q. I would like to get a new device for reading digital documents and avoid excessive document printing. I do not want too many features like internet or mail; just reading conveniently and maybe the ability to annotate a bit. I like kindle because its battery last much and it does not lead to eye fatigue; the problem is that I think it doesnt work well with pdfs (i.e. scrolling and zooming would be slow). I mostly want to read academic papers, pdf books and generally things in pdf format. Any suggestions?
A. An eInk Kindle is too small with their 6 inch diagonal screen (3.6x5 inches). PDF's are print-ready documents generally formatted (in the US) for 8.5x11 paper (or for device manuals, formatted for the print size/shape of the manual). The fonts of a PDF document cannot be changed by a reader, the lines won't reflow to fit a small screen - they are fixed format documents.
So to read PDF's easily you would want a device with a screen nearer to the size of a piece of letter-size paper (8.5x11). With a smaller screen, the document would be reduced to fit the smaller screen and you would have to zoom and pan around to read lines that go across the page.
If you have eagle eyes then MAYBE you could read a PDF meant for 8.5x11 on a 6-inch diagonal screen but you would have to get the highest resolution eInk reader and probably a frontlit one for better contrast.

To test eInk eReader size reading yourself, on a computer, reverse zoom one of your PDF documents down to 3.6 x 5 (including its margins) and see if you can read it.
I think you will need to get an 8-9 inch color tablet.
Can external battery packs be used to operate ebook readers?
Q. The battery inside a typical eReader is built to last for 500 charges, or about three to five years. Some eReaders, such as the Kindle Paperwhite, have replaceable batteries. But some, such as the Kobo Glo, don't. My question is this:
If you have an eReader with a stale battery, but you have a very good external battery pack that supplies the correct voltage via a micro USB input port on the eReader, can you use the external battery pack directly as a power supply for the eReader (without the stale battery getting in the way)?
A. No, but they do make external battery packs that can charge the internal battery.
What happens if you don't take care of your sims in Sims freeplay for Kindle fire?
Q. I couldn't take care of my sims for over a week now because my Kindle Fire is low battery and I can't find my charger. Do they die?
A. Hm. My sister was obsessed with that for about a week. I belive they will die.
