Q. I had sprint for two years. I had the photon 4g. I decided to switch to virgin because it's running off sprint towers and is much cheaper. With the photon i had decent service and got a strong 4g signal at my job and home, I always had many bars. When I went to virgin I bought their flagship Samsung galaxy victory 4g lte and expected signal strength to be the same since its running off the same service. That's not the case. I don't get a good signal at my home (which is where I had the absolute best signal) and at work. What's up with that? Is virgin limited or something? There is a sprint tower literally down the street from my home and i barely get a bar.
A. There's many factors to consider. I understand you had Sprint with another phone, but regardless Virgin Mobile using Sprint's cell towers, quality differs with different cellphones. Also its not a direct access to the network since its not Sprint itself. There will a slight network strength loss. What makes more of a difference is the cellphone. I saw the same situation between T-Mobile & Simple Mobile, Simple runs thru TMO's network. But once again what makes the difference is the device.
(& platforms- Android 1.5 (Donut),1.6 (Eclair), 2.1, 2.2(Froyo), 2.3.4, 2.3.5. 2.3.6, 2.3.7(Gingerbread), 3.0, 3.1 (Honeycomb), 4.0.1, 4.0.4 (Ice cream Sandwich, 4.1.0. 4.2.1(Jellybean) <--Different versions means different radios. Radios also determine network strength.
How can I transfer my apps from my smart phone to a new SD card?
Q. I want to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy S 4G smart phone's SD card to 32 GB. How can I transfer all of my apps, paid and non paid apps over so I wont have to re install them all? As well as all my contacts info. I was just curious if this is possible and if so how can I do it?
A. I guess you get them from the android market? In which case, just log into the same account you used on your old phone. Otherwise there is no way. Just because you put an app onto an SD Card, doesn't mean it is in there for another phone to use, that promotes piracy.
You can however, use your same account to reclaim all apps...
Edit. Sorry. Misread. Thought you got a new phone. Not a new sd card.
Nope, it can be done easily! Just go to settings, applications, manage applications, click on them all and select (if it says move to sd card, leave it be....) move to phone. Be warned, all your game/app/personal details WON'T be saved, they are all stored on the sd card. So it will be like using a fresh app...
And your contacts are stored in the phone or sim.
No need to worry. Considering they are all on your google contacts account, you won't lose any :)
Whats the difference between the Samsung Gaaxy S and Samsung Galaxy i900?
Q. I am getting a samsung Galaxy s in a few days, and i want to buy a case for it. i was looking on ebay and alot of cases are for the i900 and im wondering if that will fit the galaxy s. also, is there much difference between the two?
I live in Australia if that makes any difference
thanks
sorry, i meant "Samsung GALAXY S"
A. The galaxy S is not the I900, it's a totally different model, than the galaxy S line. The samsung fascinte(sch-i500), vibrant, captivate, epic 4g, continuum are all part of the galaxy S line, but the i9000 is the base model of the galaxy S line, so when you get the phone just ask them which galaxy S it is to make sure, and the model number will be under the battery as well if they don't know/care when you ask.
If it's the global model (not U.S. carrier specific model) you want the i9000, not i900. Sadly the cases for all of the other models will not fit the i9000.
