Q. I'm buying and iPad 2 3G soon, and I'm only buying this for the GPS (I mean, instead of the wifi version) and I'm not planning to use the 3G service at all, so if anyone tried, how good is the GPS working without using any 3G services? Is it good and strong enough or I should go with the wifi
A. I have an iPad 2 3G, and I love the GPS. It smoothly tracks the iPad and is very strong both with and without the 3G. Anyways, the iPad isn't the best choice if you are going to use it ONLY for gps...
iPad GPS question...?
Q. I am getting an iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G. I know it has a GPS feature, and from what I hear it's pretty good at pinpointing your location.
I do not plan on using the 3G except in emergencies (like, for instance, if an ice storm wiped out power for a week or so like it did last year in my area.) So, I won't have an active subscription most of the time.
I know that the GPS works even without being connected to wi-fi or through a subscription.
What I don't know is how effective it will be if you don't have some kind of map data pre-installed on your iPad. Does the iPad come with map data preinstalled? If not, can you buy it (something kind of like a Mac version of Streets and Trips?)
Also, if you can buy maps, do they have topographical maps you can use?
A. I also had this question not too long ago.
The iPad does not come with map data pre-installed, as you may already know, it uses Google Maps to download the map data; you cannot buy Google Maps data because Google refuses to work with partners that will not release their source codes (Apple, because Apple innovators are shittake mushrooms). On Android devices, there are pre-installed maps, but they still require a internet connection to view specific street names and small cities.
I'm sure theres an app somewhere for topographical maps in the app store. If you have an Android device, it is more likely that their app's will be more accurate in positioning and map layouts because they ARE Google.
Ipad 3G GPS question?
Q. My friend bought a ipad 3g 64gb a couple days ago that I believe is stolen. If the ipad is turned off/shut down, can he still be tracked? I heard things about mobileme that can track down ipads. Please help, I don't want my friend to be mistaken as a thief.
A. I searched a similar question several days ago. in attempting to look the answer I found a way to obtain the iPad 16gb for free from http://www.allipad16gbinsight.tk. mine is scheduled for delivery in the next few days & it's going to be awesome.
Good luck
