Q. I recently completely ruined my iPhone via water damage but can still sell it for a decent amount. That being said, I'm looking for a new phone but have to go the 'without contract' route since I'm only half way through my current contract. I was looking to branch away from apple now that I've been given the opportunity.
I can buy the original note for very cheap (maybe even profit from the cash made selling the broken iPhone), but is it worth it since it has a newer version? I'm pretty new to the android side of things... I saw that it can be updated to Jellybean but it's had problems... is this something not worth dealing with or does open source allow for this type of thing not to be a problem. I also heard a note III is on it's way. I would love to buy the Note 1 to save on money but will skip it if it's going to be a problem updating etc. Thoughts?
A. Definitely the Galaxy Note 2. Everything is upgraded and newer version has few bugs removed from Galaxy Note.
Best review comparison between Note 2 and 1 from an actual user, would definitely help you out on this decision:

Best advice to upgrade Sprint Samsung S3 to Galaxy Note II?
Q. My recent Sprint upgrade to a Samsung S3 now leaves me craving for the Galaxy Note II instead. Can anyone offer any tips on the most economical way to re-upgrade please?
A. You're basically screwed especially because you're most likely under contract. Either you're going to have to buy an unlocked note 2 or suffer with the gs3 for a while.
anyone knows anything about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2?
Q.
A. The Samsung Galaxy Note II is an Android smartphone manufactured by Samsung noted for its combination of a large display, 5.55-inch (141 mm) measured diagonally, and software optimized for an integral self-storing stylus. Because the display places the device at the large end of the smartphone and small end of the tablet size ranges, the Galaxy Note II has been called a hybrid of a phone and tablet, or phablet.
Succeeding the Samsung Galaxy Note, the Note II features a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 720p resolution display, 2 GB of RAM, and storage capacity up to 128 GB â when using a 64 GB microSD card with the projected 64 GB model.[citation needed]
At the time of its launch, the Galaxy Note II was the first Samsung phone to employ Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as its standard operating system.[10]
The successor product, Samsung Galaxy Note III, was announced by Samsung for the Unpacked event on September 4, 2013 with the slogan: "Note the date".[11]
