Q. Okay, so I got a Kindle 2 just around the time they came out (January maybe? I'm not completely sure) and I haven't really used it much as I'm trying to go through some of my paper books I've had lined up for ages.
The last time I used it was a month ago and when I was done I made sure to completely turn it off and it had a full battery. When I wanted to pick it up and read today, it said the battery was completely dead and needed a charge.
I haven't used it, why is the battery drained? Should I be concerned?
A. Did you turn off the wireless? That eats up the battery too.
Also, when you slide the power back, you are simply putting your Kindle to sleep. It is not completely off. It is still using battery power. So over time, the battery will drain even if you don't use the device.
I have a Kindle and it does the same thing, especially since I keep the wireless on at all times. It happens to all of us. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
When you are ready to read again, just pick it up, re-charge it, and you are all set.
Hope this helps
How to fix my Kindle Fire Battery?
Q. Okay, So. I had my kindle fire for about 7-8 months or so. And well, within the past month, the battery started to go crazy. Every time I tried to charge it, it wouldn't charge. And when I came back to check on it, It said "battery low". It must of turned on by itself, and wasted the battery. I did everything I could. I let the battery dry, and left it for a day, but it doesn't work. Help Please?
A. Your Kindle Fire is still under warranty (all come with a one year warranty) so contact Amazon - they should be able to help you::

how long will my kindle battery last before recharge?
Q. With and without wireless turned on would be useful.
Thanks
A. I suppose you have the Kindle 2 (Kindle 1 has shorter battery life), am I correct? The battery of Kindle 2 should last for 2 days with wireless turned on, and up to 2 weeks with wireless turned off.
The last fifth paragraph of this article tells quite a lot about battery life:
