Rooting Samsung Galaxy S III?
Q. Okay, I've got a SGS3 and I want a few apps that require rooted phone. I've never had an android phone before, so I barely know anything about that. What are the pros and cons for rooting it? Is it safe? In case something's wrong, can I turn it back so it's the same like it was before? Also, when rooting, how should I do that, and, will I be able to keep the original android 4.0.4 without any custom ROMs (I like it just how it is)?
A. Okay, I've got a SGS3 and I want a few apps that require rooted phone. I've never had an android phone before, so I barely know anything about that.
------- Rooting is not or everyone. Rooting is when you bypass the OEM and Carrier firmware locks on the phone, thus granting 1 and only 1 thing--- superuser access (Admin rights aka God Rights). If you are technologically timid or not tech savy or do not know how to fully operate Android, then I HIGHLY you hold off on rooting.
What are the pros and cons for rooting it?
-------- Pros: Admin rights to the phone. Cons: 1) voids warranty..2) if you have no idea what your doing on a rooted app, you can easily brick your phone OR make it to wear you never never never ever get an android OS update!!!! A good of this is when idiots want to root a phone to delete the bloatware (pre-installed apps from OEM and Carrier that people really never use and cannot be uninstalled on a unrooted/rooted phone. They can only be deleted on rooted phones). As of 2010, Bloatware is NOW tied to ALL Android OS updates by the OEM and Carrier as an attempt to prevent rooting. If you root the phone and decide to delete just 1 bloatware app, lets say or example Blockbuster App, and lets say 6 months later Samsung releasd Android 4.1 Jellybean to all GS3 users. You'll get the notification. You will be allowed to download JB. But the installation WILL FAIL!!!! Why???? Cause you deleted 1 bloatware app!!!! And if your think you can simply go to Playstore and redownload Blockbuster app and fix your issue--LMFAO--WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Learn what rooting does!!!!!!!!! OK!!!!! Bloatware is tied to the stock ROM and Android OS updates by your OEM (Samsung on GS3). IF you get Titanium Backup App (A rooted app) and use it to delete Blockbuster, then you not only deleted the app, but also the code that ties the app to the stock rom. So when you try to install Jellybean in the future, it will scan all bloatware to make sure it can fully install/update. IF it see 1 bloatware missing, it wont install. And i you try to fix it by going to Playstore and redownloading Blockbuster, it STILL wont work. Why??? Sure, you reinstalled the app.. BUT NOT THE CODE THAT TIES IT BACK INTO THE ROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Titanium Backup is awesome. You want an app deleted---oh you bet it WILL be deleted, even its CODE! So... learn rooting... its not for everyone... I dont want to see you back on here crying and sobbing that you cant get Jellybean cause you deleted Bloatware.. You been warned!!! Next Exmaple is SetCPU... make your phone faster or slower. Set the parameters to high or to low, and you just made yoruself a $500 paperweight! Understand!!!?!?!?!?!!?!?
Is it safe?
-------- sure... if you have a good rooting method. Google a rooting method... and read alllllllllllll the posts in the topic thread about it.... Obviously you dont want a rooting method that bricks everyones phones... so be smart and read and research before doing it yourself
In case something's wrong, can I turn it back so it's the same like it was before?
------- most Rooting tools have unrooting options. Some do. SOME DONT!!!!!! And if you root your phone by Rooting Method "A", then unrooting can only be done by the same tool. You cant use method "B" to unroot "A".. Get my drift... so make sure your root method has a unrooting option so you can reinstate your warranty if your phone ever has warranty issues.
Also, when rooting, how should I do that,
-------- research... read... learn.... this is how we all learned... find your rooting method. Google" rooting samsung gs3"... make an account on Androidcentral.com and join the gs3 forums... research.. learn.. read... dont like this answer... then good luck and you'll heat it A LOT!!! This aint no plug n play Iphone jailbreak. Like ALL ROOTING AND ROM FORUMS STATE: "We dont take any responcibiulty for what you do to yoru phone. Here are the instructions. Follow them fully. We dont control your fingers or actions. If you brick your phone, its your fault!".... so like I said, not being mean, just honest--- research... read... learn....
and, will I be able to keep the original android 4.0.4 without any custom ROMs (I like it just how it is)?
-------- if that is what you want... sure... custom rom'ing is only part of the rooting experience, if you so choose to do that.
Samsung galaxy s iii?
Q. Please help, I wanted to format my phone and I was told to switch off the phone and hold up volume key, menue key and the power key at the same time. After clockmod recovery appeared I entered in mounts and storage menue and click format/ system, I think I formated every where it was saying format. After I rebooted the phone the log on samsung s iii appeared and stuck their. In short my phone can pass SAMSUNG S III log on SCREEN please help
A. My educated guess would be that you completely uninstalled the OS. If this is the case, consider installing another available version of Android, such as the Cyanogen Mod. It is also possible that you bricked your phone, but I wouldn't know what to do about that. Another Answerer may be able to help if that is the issue.
