Q. I need a laptop I can bring with me to school for notes and e-book access. I really like the portability of the iPad but I worry about the price. With the bluetooth keyboard the price comes to $600.
Would a small net book be a better option?
My home laptop is a MacBook but my desk top is a PC.
(I don't bring the Mac Book because it's too heavy to carry all day and it's shared with the family.
A. With an iPad and keyboard, it should be more powerful than netbook I'll say. There's a very good acutal user opinion here, on how to use iPad to replace most usage of a laptop:

If you're not sure, you can check into the most popular netbook / iPad, and look into one or two reviews on those that you're interested and within your price range. You should have a good idea and know what you should get then.
Hope this helps.

question about iPad keyboards?
Q. For school next year, we are getting iPads, and I'm planning on getting a wireless bluetooth keyboard for mine. But I was wondering if, with a bunch of people in class trying to use them, if my iPad could pick up the wrong keyboard? I know that you're supposed to press a button on the bluetooth keyboard and scan for wireless devices on your iPad to make it work, but if someone else is doing it at the same time, could the iPad pick up the wrong keyboard? Could this happen, and if so, would it be better to get a wired keyboard? Thanks :)
A. It is possible for the iPad to pick up the wrong keyboard, but quite unlikely. You should pair them either when everyone else has done theirs, or before the class starts.
Worst case scenario, you get the wrong keyboard connected, and just disconnect it and try again.
Also, there are no wired keyboards for the iPad; they are all bluetooth.
