A. The kindle fire already has a keyboard. I also have the first one.
When you go to the internet there should be an openeing screen, usually gray, and it has a search box, tap it, and a keyborad should open up, and you can begin typing.

Should I get the Kindle Keyboard or regular Kindle for my Father?
Q. So Christmas is coming up and my father just loves reading. I MEAN LOVES! He works all day (as a construction worker for a cable compant. digging holes, raising poles, ect) and when he comes home in the evening he just likes to escape into a good book. So this year for christmas, i thought i would make it the best christmas. :) i want to get him a kindle! It will be easier for him to buy a book (rather than going to a bookstore. saving time ya know?) with the amazon kindle store, and instead of having that big old packed out book shelf he could have all his books onto one device! I will even throw in a nice case :)! So I got with my 20 year old bro (im 14) and we agreed we would go half and half on paying for this kindle. The problem is we can't decide on the right kindle. We narrowed it down to the Kindle (basic 70 dollar one) or the Kindle Keyboard!!! One problem stopping us from the regular kindle is that it looks cheap... I'm serious it looks like one of those toys you get from the walmart section. But that's not the main problem. Another problem is that the kindle keyboard has a higher reputation and the regular kindle has less memory. 1,000 books sounds like enough but the Kindle keyboard looks better plus it has keys. With my father, I do not know if he would use the keys. I would be guessing the way they sort the books out you could search for a certain title. PLus take notes and such. Which is faster? which one would i get the bang for the buck?

The Basic Kindle is best for an entry level in eBook readers. While Kindle Keyboard 3g is the best model in Kindle Family which has free 3g web browsing and Facebook and twitter integration. You can use internet everywhere without paying any fee for it.
So it basically depends on you on which one you wanna give him.
If he is out of reach of Wifi almost everytime then I would recommend you to give him the 3g version of Kindle.. Which Kindle keyboard does offers.
The Keyboard on the other hand is for the purpose of typing.

Which one is worth the money , which one is better.
A. The basic kindle is just as good as the keyboard kindle for reading ebooks.. so it's a steal for $79.
The big thing that makes the keyboard kindle worth the extra money is that you can browse the web for free anywhere over the free 3g (for no monthly fees), vs just wifi hotspots on the basic kindle.

The browser on the e-ink kindles is great for news/blogs/email and basic facebook. You can even use it to chat via m.ebuddy.com.
Personally I would opt for the keyboard kindle since I love the web, but it depends on you if you will use it.
