Q. I'm 12 and would like to get an ipod touch but I'm not allowed to. My mom says I can get a Kindle and I'd like a Kindle Fire becuase it has games and apps like the ipod touch but it's kind of expensive. Is the Kindle touch still good anymore? I'd like to be able to do a little more than read books though. I also have to use my own money so I don't want to spend too much.
A. Kindle touch is a pretty good deal as you can:
- Listen to music
- Read books
- Play games
- Useful apps like text to speech
- Internet surfing
Here I found some interesting facts about kindle vs kindle fire that would help you out:

Kindle Fire or Kindle Touch?
Q. I really want to get an e-reader. I do not have any tablets or smart phones currently. I will be getting a smart phone in a couple of weeks. My main focus is for an e-reader but I would love to have the convenience of a tablet that I can take with me on the go. I am wondering if my desire for the fact that Fire can double as a tablet will go away after I get a smart phone. I have heard great things so far about both Kindles but if I can get some of the same features from a smart phone as I would get from the Fire as a tablet, I may just want to go with the Touch. Does anyone already have a Fire and/or Touch who could enlighten me?
An additional question: If I go for the Kindle Fire, I heard it comes with a free month of Amazon Prime. Do I have to purchase it from Amazon to get that or can I purchase it from an outside store like Best Buy or Target?
A. The kindle touch is basically an eReader and its main feature is that it has the eInk display which makes it readable under direct sunlight and would never give you eye strain even after longer reading time.
An excellent review on which kindle to get:

The kindle fire on the other hand would be preferable if you want an eReader tablet which has the lcd screen display. And can be used to watch movies, play tons of games, read color magazines and has a faster processor.
I would recommend you to go for the kindle if you give preference to the eInk display. The price tag for the best selling kindle:

While if you prefer to have an eReader which can do a lot more stuff than you should prefer kindle fire and this is the price tag for it:

I prefer that you get it from amazon directly as they would cover its warranty better than best buy or target.
Kindle Basic vs. Kindle Touch?
Q. I'm an avid reader and I feel like I'm betraying myself by getting a kindle! However, I'm starting grad school and would like to start purchasing my textbooks as ebooks, which requires a kindle.
However, I, for the life of me, cannot figure out if the original kindle or the touch is better! I am told that with the touch I can also email papers and online journals etc. from my student account to my kindle to read that way, which sort of gives it a "one-up" in my book (pun not intended)
Does anyone have experience with these two? Any opinions? (I do not want the keyboard one etc, so please don't suggest another model, it's between these two)
A. The Kindle Touch is definitely better with the touchscreen. It's more convenient for the control, taking notes, highlights, etc.
However, I suggest you to go for the latest Kindle model instead. It has better screen resolution, and you can read on it in the dark without any additional light source (the basic Kindle and the Kindle Touch can't). It has touch screen for easy control as well. There's a good review here from a student using the latest Kindle, talking about its features and benefits. It'd help you decide:
