Q. I just recently bought a used AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 2 phone. I want to know if i can get my phone unlocked for free if im using Pay as you go sim card from AT&T? If i cannot get it for free, how do i get the code?
A. the code is locked by AT&T and you can go to a shop or call a hotline (I am from germany so you must check what is faster^^) and ask how much it cost to unlock your phone.
What you have is called a sim lock and you can only use the sim card you have bought together with your phone.
Ask for the price and they unlock the phone so that you can use different sim cards.
The code is on each phone different so you can only unlock it by flashing the baseband of your phone to a sim lock free baseband. You can do this by using "Odin". When you search a little on http://www.xda-developers.com/ you might find the right baseband for your phone.
But, if you do this you loose your warrenty. I am not sure if it is legal so I don't give you the direct hint and let yourself explore the world of flashing. :)
I forgot my pattern and account for my Samsung Galaxy. How do I unlock my phone?
Q. I've locked my phone with a pattern and forgot the pattern. But i also forgot the google account it was under. How would I unlock it?
A. try logging into google and click forgotten your password etc and go through it that way, once you have done this just type the user and password into your phone.
the only other possibility is a factory reset.
power your phone completely down.
-hold down the volume down button
-tap the power button whilst doing this
-the hboot screen should appear
-use the volume buttons to scroll down to factory reset/restore (called different things depending on the software version)
-click the power button to select
-click power button to confirm
-the phone will do a factory reset.
Can a Samsung Galaxy s4 be unlocked to work on Cspire?
Q. I'd like to buy a Samsung Galaxy s4 but due to complications in my data plan, I can't buy a phone from Cspire. I have to buy it used from Ebay, Craigslist, etc. I'm a big computer nerd so if it can be done I can probably figure it out, but I'm inexperienced in the realm of cell phone unlocking. Thanks in advance! :)
A. C Spire is CDMA network
The Samsung S IV is only available so far for Verizon model SGH-I545.
CDMA phones are not unlocked as there is no lock.
Locking is only on GSM HANDSETS which have sim cards, a locked handset will only accept a simcard which is the same as the network it was ORIGINALLY supplied to.
The sim card in a GSM phone is the most important component the handset itself...... dressing. The simcard is what connects to the network.
CDMA handsets require activation by the network so they can be used ON the network, there is no lock
So if a network activated a handset it could be used. I believe that C Spire would not or could not activate s Verizon handset. If that is the case You could not use it.
Finally CDMA handsets get bad ESN. GSM uses BLOCKING whereby if the handset IMEI is registered on a database as reported lost or stolen it has the same effect as a bad ESN, the phone cannot be used on any network.
A sim card is essentially a phone number which the network controls add to that the handset IMEI, so you can use any unlocked handset on any network, all you need is to that is to have a pre pay sim card. If the handset IMEI is reported lost or stolen and appears on that "database" it can't be used ever on any network and you may have a valid simcard but NO handset to use
