Q. I am a senior in college and am looking to purchase some sort of Ipad. I would like to use it to take notes in classes and read scientific papers on. I am applying to grad schools and would be using it for similar functions then as well. I would also like to use it to watch movies and surf the internet. I am not a huge app person. Portability wise- I haven't decided if it matters. I wouldn't put it in my jacket but definitely a backpack or purse. Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions??
A. I would consider the ipad 3, what is the difference between the 4 versus the 3? Not much. Why spend the money on a 4 then? Actually the 2 and 3 should be in play and the mini off the table. You know why? Screen size. Why pay the money for a smaller screen when you can have a larger screen for the same amount? If you do a little digging the difference between the aforementioned generations is the processors. The ipad 2 has the A5 chip, the 3 has the A5x chip and the 4(mini) has the A6 chip. If you want to know the difference between them it is speed and power, though none are a weakling. So when you look at it that way these three chips are capable of being relevant for years to come, despite the different versions of ipads.
The best buy for the money is a refurbished ipad 2 or 3 with a full Apple warranty. You will save 10-15% off sticker and have the backing of Apple as if brand new. If you have money to burn then get the mini however, it does nothing more, but a smaller screen size which does not translate into a better view. Isn't that the case with flat screen tvs? Riiight.

Can I bring a purse on the plane with an iPad and stuff?
Q. Okay so I'm going on a plane tomorrow. I'm sharing a suit case with my Grandpa. So I know we get one carry on, so I was wondering if I could also bring a purse for me? My grandpa is using the carry on. When I bring the purse, it's kind of a larger Vera Bradley, It fits my iPad and stuff, so I was wondering if I could just bring that. When I do bring it, how will they check my purse btw? Where do I put my iPad, phone, and iPod when they are checking it, do I lay it out? Thanks
A. Each person can carry two carry on items on the plane per person. Sure you can bring that purse. You will simply put the purse on the x ray machine conveyer belt when you reach the TSA security check point and it will go through the x ray machine, all the TSA inspector does is look at the x ray image. Nope, all of those items can just stay in your bag. The only things that would need to come out would be a laptop if you are bringing one and your liquids. The liquids must be less than 100mL (3.4oz) each and put together in one quart sized zip top bag, which you will then take out at security and send through the x ray machine in one of the plastic bins they provide at the check point. You can put it in the same bin as your shoes. You should also remove any coat or bulky sweater you are wearing along with your shoes. Hope that answers your questions!! :)

Q. I want one with good reviews and a good camera. I have a Mac and android phone do I like both android and apple. Can u give me your personal reviews or help?
A. With ipad you do not get Adobe Flash which is required to view videos on many websites. It is a major complaint among iphone and ipad owners.
Cameras are pretty much the same among tabs, they're all pretty crappy compared to digital cameras, but can be adequate.
Android tabs usually have better performance, are faster, thinner, and lighter than the ipad. Ipads are just uber-popular just because they are Apple, but you can pick them up at places like Walmart so their wannabe "exclusive" image is non-existent.
If money is no object get a top android tablet which will run circles around the ipad in performance, and come in various sizes as well for portability (fits better in purse) or use as an e-reader of books (lighter, like Kindle).
