A. Features wise, the Kindle Fire HD is better.
I.e
- 1280*800 HD display (vs 1024*768 non-HD display)
- 1Gb RAM (vs 512MB RAM)
- Dual WiFi antenna for faster downloads
- Digital dolby stereo speakers for best sound quality.

iPad Mini has pros like:
- Dual Camera (Kindle Fire HD has front facing HD camera only)
- App store (Kindle Fire HD has amazon app store which has over 90k apps by now but you can always side-load apps from Google play store so it is not a big issue)

Kindle Fire HD is basically the same thing with more features like:
- Front facing HD camera
- Digital dolby speakers
- Dual wifi antenna for faster downloads
- 1280*800 HD screen
- HDMI out

Kindle Fire HD is more of a movie oriented tablet where you get Dual wifi antenna and Digital dolby audio speakers to enjoy movies at the max level.
While Nexus 7 is more of a power oriented tablet where you get more power and apps from google play. Although you can get apps from google play on Kindle Fire HD too through sideloading.
