iPod and iPad battery help?

Q. I jail broke my iPod earlier this year but restored it after a short month or 2 when I tried to restore it it always froze on the last part ( I don't know this could have just been a patience issue) this eventually fixed itself with iOS 4 but nowadays my batter icon and battery life are taking a bad toll I can never really know my true battery life I also have an iPad and when I was playing a 3D game my iPod seemed to go from what seemed like 50-60 percent to 20 percent while my iPad lost a grand total of 4 percent please help me

A. The iPad battery is much better than the iPod. Maybe 3 times better I would say. You can get about 12-14 hours of usage out of it. Which is a lot. With my iPod I only get about 4 hours of hardcore usage. So playing a 3D game will kill your battery, very very quickly.

Original Question

Lifespan of iPad Battery - Is there any way to Increase Your iPad Battery Lifespan?
Q.

A. The iPad, by default, has a very solid battery life. As long as you optimize your usage of videos, screen brightness and wi-fi, your iPad battery will last longer before it needs a charge.

In most cases, the tablet will need a recharge after about 6 hours of constant usage (assuming you're watching videos, playing games and have wi-fi turned on at all times). The new iPad 2 has better battery life clocking in at 10 hours or more.

To increase the lifespan of the iPad battery, enable auto-lock, lower your screen brightness and get rid of the iPad case. This will keep the battery cooler.

Also turn off 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when you don't need them.

Original Question

How long will my ipad battery last?
Q. I just got an Ipad 2 16 GB and i was wondering how long the battery life will last...
Things to keep in mind:
-Im going on a trip that will take atleast 21 hours on a plane
-I will not be using wifi on the plane, maybe only in the airport
-I only want to read the books that i have on the plane, since i have a seperate ipod that has all my music on it.
-Maybe when i get to the airport I can charge it (but its not guaranteed)

So therefore i was wondering how long my battery life will last?
Also I am aware of the little icon on the top left that tells me my battery life but I was wondering if anyone could tell me the approximation of how long it will be untill my ipad is going to die? Like has anyone traveled very far to know as experience?

A. With no data connections, you should last 10 hours if you turn screen brightness down for pure book reading from a full charge.

As for better battery meters, search iTunes for "Battery." I'm using Battery HD+ on my iPad 3. Most of them should tell you just how much power you have left based on activities such as game playing, movies or reading.

No Android or Apple product will last 21 hours on a plane straight. There are external battery charges which can boost your iPad.

That one should give you 100% of your battery, so you might be able to swing 20 hours of straight reading with that plugged in on the plane.
