Q. I have a iPhone 5 now, but T-Mobile has extremely bad signal for me. I am moving to AT&T but I cant decide over the HTC One or Samsung Galaxy S4. I have my mind on the S4 but it might be able to be changed. I do care about screen, weight, camera and software/speed. I don't really care about build, cause ill cover it with a case a week after. Tell me the good and bad please :)
A. As far as your considerations are there,
Screen- Both have a great full HD Screen, not really much difference, only main difference being S4 has a 5 inch screen and One has 4.7 inch screen.
Weight- S4 is definitely lighter, however both are very comfortable holding.
Camera- S4 wins in this one too. However, in low light One is better.
Software Speed- Both are with Android 4.2.2(not sure about T-Mobile but in my country), both are expected to get 4.3 very soon. So its just about the skins i.e. Touchwiz On samsung vs Sense 5 on HTC.I find sense 5 better, I consider both as similar as most people do install Nova or any other launcher, it is much better. Speed for common tasks is better in HTC One as it has lighter software but for heavy games, S4 is better.
Here are the other things which u may like to read before choosing.
I am using HTC One since 3 months and its awesome.
Here's the HTC One compared with S4:
1) Looks
-HTC One-Looks amazing and build quality is great.
S4 looks like any other plastic samsung phone.
2) Battery
-HTC One-Battery life works good, lasts about 1 day with moderate usage. Battery is non removable
Same with S4. But battery is removable.
3) Performance
-HTC One-Works fasts, no lag at all and also opens the pics in gallery very fast even when I have around 500 pics there's just no delay.
-S4- Lags in many basic tasks but considered better for playing games with Overclocked CPU.
4)Speakers
HTC One-Speakers are awesome. Dual speakers in front of phone
S4- Speaker on the back side not really great.
5) Camera
HTC One-I found the camera also pretty nice for day to day use
S4: Has a great 13MP camera which is awesome and beats One's camera easily.
6) Charging Time
HTC One-Making the phone fully charged takes about 3 hours(Maybe done to conserve the battery life). Wireless charging not available
S4- Takes around 2 hrs. Wireless charging is available.
7)Storage
HTC One- 32 or 64 GB inbuilt storage not expandable
S4- 16 or 32 GB storage, expandable upto 64 GB by Micro SD
8) Issues
One of the issues with both the phones is that they get heated very fast.
HTC One- has some issues relating to camera also which are expected to be resolved with 4.3 update, however I didn't face any such issue.
Also HTC is normally considered to give slow software updates when compared to Samsung
S4- S4 has a common issue of lagging and doing some of the tasks slow even after having one of the fastest processors.
Will Samsung S3 have the official 4.2 Jelly Bean update? If yes then when will it be released?
Q.
A. The Galaxy S3 is currently running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean official firmware and there is no official word as to when the device will receive Android 4.2. Since the Galaxy S4 has just been released with Jelly Bean 4.2, Samsung will probably wait a little while as they iron out all the initial issues they may discover with the Galaxy S4 Jelly Bean 4.2 before they release an update for the older Galaxy S models (S3, S2 etc). Once the update is ready, it won't be a secret of course. Samsung will reveal the dates as they draw closer to releasing the 4.2 update. In any case, you'll get a notification via your S3 when 4.2 is ready to download and install just as they did with the 4.1.2 update (at least that's how I got my update).
Hope it helped.
When is Samsung going to unveil Galaxy S4?
Q. I love the features of the S3 but I don't like its plastic body. I hope Samsung rectifies this in S4. Any idea when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S4?
I find the following as major drawbacks of S3 --
1. Plastic body
2. ICS operating system is old now. One has to manually upgrade it to Jelly Bean.
3. Camera isn't as good as that of iPhone 5.
4. It offers 1GB ram while Nexus 4 (much cheaper) offers 2GB ram and comes with almost identical processing power.
So, I hope S4 overcomes the drawbacks mentioned above.
A. The body can be fixed by using a hybrid metal/ Gel case. The nexus is also all plastic! T-mobile and Sprint have upgraded to Jelly bean. Verizon and ATT, by the end of this month. The S3 camera received an excellent update with Jelly Bean, utilizing all of its hardware( I have 4.2 photosphere installed). It may only have 1gb of ram, But the S3 has removable storage; which the Nexus doesn't. I'll gladly take 1GB less ram for the option of 64GB additional storage. The Nexus also doesn't have a removable battery. The Nexus has a sharper image, but the S3 is brighter and has a better contrast ratio. The Nexus also doesn't have LTE, and a lesser front facing camera. Each phone has its faults. Is the S3 case fragile? Yes, but I have it protected in an awesome case! anyways....No update on an S4..
If the case quality is your only problem not look at these two protective steel cases.
